you were that same person who replied in a mean way to that other person.... I really wish curse words were allowed right now... but i do agree that mojang does this for money, and also that minecraft's success was pretty much built off of youtube. (also, a good tip: Dont act like a brat and shove what you have in their face, people will HATE you for it...)
I'd question that they lost money they probably broken even but that's all.
They would have bought out 1 hall in a convention place that can hold 45,000 people it holds 2 other cons over the year as well the tickets for those cons sell at $60USD and $70USD
The minecon 2013 event was 7,500 tickets, that'll be less than a quarter than the center can really hold.
They were selling tickets at $150USD each.
That's 1.1 million USD for all the tickets, alone Mojang doesn't pay for any people on the panels travel or hotel costs so if they give out say 100 "panel" tickets they won't be losing out really.
They'd only be hiring 1 hall at most for this the amount of people going would be far too small for the hall to fuss about overall.
Notch or Mojang saying they want to keep it small probably isn't because they want it that way, they probably don't want to shell out any sort of real money to do anything bigger or would require an events company to be paid by them to sort out.
Also 7,500 is really small for a con it starts to become a pointless show that'd by why all the other minecon shows have spring up because they know the real minecon isn't any competition by any means and most people probably won't bother about it because the amount of tickets make it pointless to fuss about.
Look at E3 they were getting around 100,000 people over the show but tried to make it small and the 2nd year many game companies don't bother about E3 anymore in fact the Jap and German game shows/cons have eclipsed E3 and now the big 3 rather do releases at these shows as there's more people into them now.
I think it is because no one likes a complainer. Not being nice to someone who is complaining and looking for sympathy is not going to make you public enemy. I have not been offensive. I haven't stated anything that is false. Maybe I could say things a bit nicer, but that is just delivery. I come to the forums when I am looking for a few minutes of escape from schoolish things (working on a PM masters). I also understand business. I am an adult and it is what I do.
People don't hate me in my life because the older you get the less drama you are willing to deal with. I am very dismissive so issues typically don't get to that point. Online, it is easier to get caught up in emotions because you read things in the context you wish. You even said earlier that you agree with me, but you make a point that you don't like how I say it. I understand that. Your point is valid and I will try to remember that going forward to be less dismissive in my posts. However, I think you were trying to call me something not very nice. And I don't see why.
People usually don't hate others for what they do (except situations like killing and stuff). Usually it is out of irritation. I am not you so I can't reflect on your good and bad points. But you don't sound stupid. And I don't hate you. So I offer that tidbit. :-)
