I was thinking about purchasing 2 tickets for myself and my 7 year old son, but would a 7 year old enjoy the experience? If so, what sort of events do they have there that are geared towards kids? I've never been, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's probably kid friendly...I'd just stay away from the teens. Although If you're son likes watching presentations, then he'll love Minecon. That's more or less what the entire thing is about.

What sort of presentations do they have? Also, I heard something about getting a free cape when you go? Are there any other free goodies they give away for kids?
A in-game minecraft cape (a 7 year old minecrafters dream)
A goodie Bag
-Bag
-Other items not yet told about
But the biggest problem is actually getting the tickets, they sold last time in three seconds, however i know the key. But, not telling everyone since to many people will use it. If you want, I can privately send the strategy. Although not guaranteed to work, if gives you a better chance.

From the video coverage and articles I've read, it is definitely kid-friendly. There are props and stuff, and a good portion of the attendees have costumes and stuff.
Plus there aren't really any "bad" people there. It's not like it's a sporting event with a bunch of drunks or something.
Anyway, I think a 7 year old would love it. I'd like to go sometime, but I am 14 and realistically live too far away to go. I have a job and no real monetary obligations, so the ticket cost/hotel and whatever would be negligible, but I'd have to drag at least one of my parents to somewhere in the USA, which would at least double the price, plus they wouldn't want to do it.
Definitely kid friendly. To be honest, I don't like very young kids who think they are so cool to play minecraft. I'm a pretty old teen and I see how annoying kids these days can be. Ok, I think I went off topic

I don't mind the ones that play the PC version. It annoys me when young ones play the PE or 360 edition and think it is just as good though. I guess that is kind of elitist, but whatever.

Not all kids can be annoying.
Just saying, because I'm a kid.

PM me if you want to know
Thanks so much. I sent you a PM.
Heck, I'm still having to beg my Mother to let me go
From I've heard MineCon is family friendly.

I wonder what would happen if DefCon went on near Minecraft.
