First off, I want to apologize if this is in the wrong category. I kind of thought my rang of issues fell in several categories, but I just decided to post it here, since it appears to be an account thing. At least, that's what I'm guessing. If I need to move this post, just say so, and I will! Thank you!
So, I updated to 1.6.2, and everything was going fine! I could get online to my beloved servers perfectly. For about a day, that is. When I tried to get back online the next day, I repeatedly got the ‘Bad Login’ error message. I rebooted Minecraft several times to no avail.
After doing some research and watching a couple videos, I decided to try and reset my password (with the whole new launcher thing potentially being a problem). However, when I try to change/’remember’ (I know what my password is, but I decided to try this route as well) it, Minecraft.net said that my username didn’t exist. I tried the ‘Forgot Username?’ route. It says my email isn’t on their record! Despite this, I am still able to login to Minecraft.net with the email that supposedly isn’t in their records.
I also tried to migrate my account to Mojang, to see if that would help.
I didn’t put my username in there because I’m paranoid but, see how much trying to migrate did? I noticed that when I launched the game from the launcher in 1.6.2, the ‘Play’ button was actually ‘Play Offline’. However, it said that Multiplayer was ‘Online, no problems detected.’ and that Login was the same. Weird, no?
I switched profiles, and 1.6.1 does allow me to play online. However, 1.5.2 does the same thing 1.6.2 does.
I tried 1.6.1, just to see what would happen, but all of my servers (except for one), are all 1.6.2. This leaves me with no servers to play; not even my own, wich is 1.6.2.
I sent in a ticket to the Mojang help desk, explaining everything as I did here, and this was the response I received:
"If you are getting a bad login error, you have already successfully logged into our account services. A bad login error is an issue between your computer and the server you are trying to connect to. Please check your network settings. or contact your server administrator for more information."
I honestly think they might have skipped over the part where their account services say that I don't exist. I emailed them back anyway, asking what network preferences I needed to change in order to regain access to the online servers, but I haven't received a response back yet. Not sure if this little tidbit of an email will help you guys in any way, but I figured I'd put it up here, just in case.
If anyone knows what the HECK is going on, or if I can fix this, please, let me know! I’d really like to get a Let’s Play going sometime soon. Thank you very much!
So... The first thing you need to do in this situation would be to... God almighty this is a BIG mess.
Im wondering if you have COMPLETE access to your account online, The post doesnt say whether you can log into the minecraft.net website and if you can log into the mojang website. The good thing is Nothing is wrong with your email, Or you didnt lose the password for it for that matter.
Yes, I was able to log in to Minecraft.net, but I wasn't able to do anything.
However, I have fixed the problem! All I had to do was create a new 1.6.2 profile and put my email in the username box.
I think this is what a lot of people are having trouble with (I found a few others on several different sites, including this one, having the same issue).
Maybe that's all they need to do in order to fix their bad logins?
