Ok so I just recently bought another copy of Minecraft for someone. Everything has run smoothly just like my first purchase. I set up all the information that I needed to fill out. I wanted to make sure the account works on a few levels. I downloaded Minecraft while logged in, it worked. I logged into Minecraft.net with the username and password, that worked. When I went to the client I tried to log in with the username and password but it didn't proceed. Instead it came up with "Mojang account" and that I should log in with the email associated with the account. I try what it suggests and it works. I looked around for a while to see if there was a way to fix this. I want to be able to log in with the username on the new account, not the email, like I can with the account I've had since Beta. Is there a way to change it to use the username instead.
Thanks
No. This is a new system implemented by Mojang as creating a Mojang account is part of the registration process now, there is currently no way to revert to the previous login method.
So, its kinda like when Runescape said if you have an account before 2007 you can use the username, but after that you need to use your email? Its a security thing then.
Indeed. My account i can login with my username, and my friend can't because of that. It is more of a security thing because its that much harder to login to minecraft.net on someone else's account when you have to figure out their e-mail instead of just simply typing in their username and guessing/entering the password.
Thanks
