THIS IS A MULTIPLAYER CONNECTION ISSUE. NOTHING IS WRONG WITH YOUR GAME.
INFORMATION:
Has this happened before in the past? Yes many, many, many times. What's causing it? Notch tripped over a creeper and destroyed the authentication server used to verify users on verification-enabled servers. In a nutshell, it's down. When will it be fixed?SOON™@jeb_ What can you do to fix the problem? Nothing, seriously, stop posting, do nothing, go outside. Except me, sadly. Server admins can disable the "online-mode" value in the server.properties which may fix the problem.
online-mode=true //Will enable authentication to minecraft.net
online-mode=false //Will disable authentication to minecraft.net and allow players with or without a cracked game into your server and may bypass the problem right now.
What if the other reason is that the server is being hacked? Probably not. But I see people on the servers! They have not disconnected, and when they do, they will not be able to get back on. But I see the servers online with 0/20! That is only the server information which does not go through the authentication server itself. But I host my server on the computer I am on right now or on my home network! If it's "online-mode=true" it still needs authentication form minecraft.net. But minecraft.net is up! WTF! That is the main website and does not necessarily host or contain the authentication server itself.
Just wondering, does this happen often, and also why does this happen. Bukkit seems to always have issues like this.
2 things.
1. No, not too terribly often. just sometimes and i think it's because they're still updating lots of stuff and accidently break things.
2. This is NOT bukkit that is broken. Bukkit is a separate entity. This is a minecraft problem.
Also, I can verify that those server admins who care can set it to offline mode and people should be able to log on.
You suggest to go outside...what if it is night where we happen to be? I was hoping to play Minecraft on the server I play on...but I guess not. Hurry up, Notch!
