My opinion about the Lawsuit is in another post about this, now I will criticize the stupid Minecraft fanboys who can't stand someone insult their god (AKA: Mojang, Notch or Minecraft)
I hate when people say Bethesa is Jealous of Mojang. I mean, why would they be jealous of a game that is boring anyway? I can't believe fanboys can't stand a damn thing. I had seen many stupid comments saying "oh we will pirate your games" or that you won't buy them. Bethesa won't give two craps about it. They have thousands and thousands of people who would still purchase their games. If a random person doesn't buy their games or pirate them, Bethesa will not instantly go on bankrupt. I do think the lawsuit is highly stupid though, but I prefer more than Bethesa wins than Minecraft Fanboys crying and whining about Bethesa suing Mojang. Mojang has millons, and I don't think a lawsuit would make Mojang close down forever and then stop making Minecraft that will be having millons of clones and mods and unofficial updates. Seriously, if Bethesa sees this post (which I am really unsure), they won't take off the lawsuit. Stop saying Bethesa is jealous if they have solt millons with games like Fallout. If they were jealous they would had created a clone of Minecraft and maybe they could have purchased Minecraft itself, so shut up fanboys. Also, it is not Bethesa itself, it's their lawyers, so call them jealous and not Bethesa itself. Also, for you stupid fanboys who are not convinced, Notch had alerady said that he liked Bethesa games, so shut up and investigate before throwing stupid insults.
I hope you read this damn fanboys, and if you wish cry on me calling me a troll, hater, whatever.
Bethesda, calm the hell down, consumers aren't dumb enough to mistake Scrolls for The Elder Scrolls. I honestly think that Bethesda's aim in all this is to take Mojang down.
....Are you serious? Bethesda is being a complete **** over this; most people refer to it as Skyrim anyway. I don't see why they feel the need to sue Mojang over such a small dispute.
It's unbelievable how far minecraft has come. For a game in it's beta, the numbers are impressive. Even so, Mojang is still quite a small and insignificant company, compared to others. The fact that Bethesda is trying to belittle Mojang even more is just very poor sportsmanship on their part. Scrolls is not a household name on either side. Many people still don't know that Mojang even made that game. So why? Mojang has more followers that are PASSIONATE, than probably almost any company. Bethesda, don't act all big when there is plenty more out there that can just as easily squish you.
I wasn't going to buy Skyrim anyway because Bethesda hasn't been able to release a good game for about nine years now, but I will pretend to boycott for Mojang's sake. :tongue.gif:
this is most stupid thing i have ever heard in my life. get over it bethsada! you dont own the word scrolls! if somebody made a game called "scrolls of demons" you would sue them!? mojang better as hell win this lawsuit and kick bethsada's ass
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
The laws of physics are optional. The laws of magic are absolute.
Personally, whenever I say anything with the word scrolls(pertaining to the Elder Scrolls games), it's always "Elder Scrolls" not 'scrolls IV: Oblivion'. Really, how many games have scrolls in the title? And how many games WILL have scrolls in the title? They can't sue all of them, and I'll bet if the lawyers are pushing them to do the lawsuit they'll surely be fired if Bethesda loses. So, hopefully the courts have some lick of sense in them.
Surprisingly, very few games actually have "Scrolls" in the title. There are less than 10 and most of those pre-date TES (Amiga, Spectrum ZX, NES). Post that, "scrolls" was mostly used as a subtitle or as such that it was not the primary focus of the game's title.
Just FYI, Notch isn't a "little guy" anymore.
3,619,371 people have bought minecraft.
At 25 bucks a pop (I am taking the current price just for the sake of argument),
25 x 3,619,371 = $90,484,275
Actual figures are far less than this because a vast majority (or even a vast minority, but still substantial figure) bought at the reduced price (12EUR). On top of this, before Mojang AB was founded (ie. Mojang Specifications) Notch was working as an individual, subject to income tax (not corporate tax) which is approximately 50%, which further reduces early earnings for the game to 6EUR.
This is mostly just chest beating by frail men in suits and ties and a large vocabulary of words designed to distract anyone who listens to their legal babble into thinking they actually have a valid case.
Who has played Scrolls and Elder Scrolls to know the difference? ITS JUST A FRIGGEN WORD PEOPLE AND ITS JUST A INDIE COMPANY THE HECK!!!!! I WANNA DO THIS :Flint and Steel: AND THIS TO THE PEOPLE SUING PEOPLE OVER ONE WORD!!!!
Really, I'm not going to buy anything from Bethesda. It is quite clear now that they aren't just businessmen, but also are not gamers.
If I was notch and I won the Quake 3 game, I would have still changed the name of my game just because of honor.
