I really don't want to break the fun, but as it has probably been said before there are "notched" axes in several other games and it really isn't an ode to Notch or something.. just google "notched axe".
The people saying the Notched Pickaxe was in Oblivion are a little something I like to call "wrong". There is no "notched" anything anywhere in Oblivion. The word doesn't appear on any items, entities, cell names, or NPCs anywhere in the game. This has been proven, more than once. Anyone with Oblivion and the Construction Kit can easily verify this by running a search in the game files.
There. Is. No. Notched. Pickaxe. In. Any. Other. Elder. Scrolls. Games.
Period. End of discussion. You have no proof. We do.
It would seem that goodwill between Skyrim developer Bethesda and Mojang's Notch continues despite recent tensions with Bethesda's publishing company. While not directly confirmed, it is suspected that the Notched Pickaxe (seen above) is a quiet homage to the indie developer. The Bethesda team are known to be avid Minecraft fans, playing the game in their spare time, even during development of Skyrim. Of note, the pickaxe even resembles the titular item from Minecraft in its design, although with a much higher-resolution texture pack. Does this mean a similar inclusion of a Skyrim-themed easter egg may pop up in future Minecraft updates? Only time will tell!
i play both of these games and when i saw the notched pickaxe all i thought was notch....pickaxe....minecraft....MY NEW WEAPON! im finally glad that mojang and bethesda could make peace because i play games from both and that would be awful if something happened to either one
