Honestly i don't know why people are complaining that Jeb has taken over notch's place. I have always believed that a new set of eyes on a projet will allow it to go in a different direction. Most of the time change is a good thing.
I really don't know how to feel about this, I had to stop playing minecraft for about 8 months when I got into a major four-wheeler wreck and that was around 1.7? I think and Notch was a god. Now I come back fully pumped up and ready to catch up to date with all the new mods and stuff and this happens. Is Jeb a good developer? Are there going to be changes to the game (Besides updates lol)? Well however it turns out I'm still sticking with Minecraft, hopefully nothing bad will happen and we will get a decent API.

Jeb will do fine in his position. It's funny how people are acting like Notch has stepped down from minecraft even though he's still going to be developing minecraft. It's just Notch won't have the final say in all the decisions.

Jeb is not going to ruin the game. I won't be surprised if he still consults Notch on features he wishes to remove/add. He isn't going to rampage and break Minecraft
Oh, fanbases. Is there NOTHING we can't rely on you to overreact to? Even when you don't have enough information to throw a tantrum about, you'll literally just make it up on the spot (Ex: "Jeb will remove dragons") or switch to outright moon-logic (Ex: "I'm going to stop playing the version I have right now, because of my concerns about what future versions will be like!").
I see how many people would see this as a BAD thing that notch has stepped down. In notches defense, who DIDNT see this coming? I mean, he made it to 1.0.0, the least he can do is take a break. I do see how this is bad though. Notch was great with programming, why not keep going.
We should be seeing a fair mix of building to adventure content now, and Jeb doesn't have an irrational hatred of mob traps and boats made out of wood instead of egg shells. This is the best thing to happen to minecraft since pistons.
And who got pistons into the game, eh? :-3
