We dont NEED mod API, its just for noobs to lazy to watch a 2 minute video on how to install them. Minecraft is gonna start going downhill again, as it did in 1.8. That was the only update I didnt like. I'm not saying Notch hasn't done some bad things to Minecraft, but I just know theres gonna be a lot of those stupid updates with Jeb_ in lead of Minecraft.
I think this was a great (or at least intresting) move by Notch. Jeb defiantly knows what he is doing and he will no doubt bring many fantastic things to the game. It will be a intresting turn-out. Grats Jeb!
I'm glad Jeb is taking over he's more dedicated to Minecraft than notch is anymore, he doesn't care about minecraft anymore he just knows it offers him an unlimited supply of money so he can **** around and try to develop other games. Jeb actually LOVES coding for minecraft so he will do it justice. Notch got lazy once he started getting millions of dollars rolling in he just spent most of his time dicking around. We will see more updates with Jeb as the lead than we would with notch as the lead.
Go figure though Notch "releases" minecraft and bails on it, Lazy git. I knew this was going to happen eventually. His heart and soul isn't with Minecraft anymore. Which is kind of sad but its good for us because Jeb is a hell of a lot better of a programmer than Notch could ever hope to be. Notch even said himself he can't figure out how to do random procedural structure generation and Jeb can do it perfectly, the npc towns, the nether fortresses and the strongholds for example. So for those of you who think minecraft is dead... it's not its quite alive and will be for a long time. As long as jeb is working on it we will be taken care of.
All the major features that have been implemented since notch hired a team have come from jeb, like pistons n ****.. the only thing notch has done was like the lighting engine and what not. And the dragon, but the dragon is pretty lame, and so is the end. It's a quick patch job so they could "release" minecraft.
Jeb is better? They are different. Notch adds details and things like that, and Jeb seems to see more big picture. Besides, Jeb gets the final decision now, doesn't mean that Notch won't be working on it ever, he just isn't head Developer.

And Notch Said "Let there be Blocks" and then there was minecraft. The End!

The dragon was disappointing, especially since I personally love dragons. The big things I feel would be interesting is adding (bigger) castles and walls to NPC villages, cool aboveground stronghold/castle/dungeon/temple things, more boss mobs, better dragons that live in caves, have hoards, breathe fire, land, and have eggs you can hatch and tame. And, of course, the Aether. I would also like to see the obsidian pillars in the end made into little tower dungeon things and hostile ender mobs. Some legendary metals ( and more gems) like mythril and adamantite would be cool, magic, and of course legendary (and unique) weapons. Terraria actually has all the stuff I mentioned in that last sentence, to some extent, especially with its new release. And other than craftable capes that's everything I could possibly want in Minecraft. Yes, I know it's a lot. I don't really expect ALL of it (at least anytime soon), but... It's basically just my MC wish list.
P.S., to any of the 10 year olds saying that Jeb is going to ruin the game: You obviously didn't read the full post. They said his next project is a Mod API, so now you can put that hundred mods you like in your game at once and you don't have to post in the wrong forum asking why Minecraft won't start in all capital letters.
is it true leb hates dragons? cuz that was my favorite part. the enderdragon. im a what you could call dragon fan. it would be dissapointing but still CONGRATS jeb!!id like to she where the game turns now
I feel great about this. It seems that over time Jeb has started adding more interesting features, and notch has been more bug fixing. I feel Minecraft will do well in Jebs hands!
Congrats, Jeb!!
"As of yesterday, Jens Bergensten is the new lead developer on Minecraft. He will have the final say in all design decisions, so he will kinda sorta become my boss, I guess. I’ve promised him to not pull rank.
We’ve been working together on Minecraft for a year now, and I’m amazed at how much in synch we two are when it comes to how to design the game. And when we don’t agree, we discuss it and something much better comes out at a result. He’s truly a great person to work with, and I feel very confident handing over the leadership of Minecraft to him.
If you want to contact Jens, he’s on twitter as @jeb_, or you can email him at [email protected]
Personally, I will now rest for a while, then get back to work refreshed and eager. I’ll be helping out with Minecraft, of course, but also starting work on some new project."
This was Notch's post on his tumblr wall, he's stepping down as the lead designer, but that doesn't mean he's gone from Minecraft forever; he's going to rest because the stress of publishing a game, and indie game with only a few helping hands, is no small feat, especially when it's sold 4,000,000 copies so far. Mojang is an expanding company, and if they put all their time into Minecraft, then the other games don't get published and they begin to lose revenue, because as big as Minecraft is, it's not the only game that they'll make. To all the trolls who don't like Jeb, he and Notch have been working cooperatively with Minecraft. Jebs made the smaller and more finesse things, while Notch made the more complex and extravagant things. Without either of them, Minecraft might not be where it is today. Jeb will make the game better, just because Notch isn't always there doesn't mean Minecraft is going to die, Notch wouldn't let his masterpiece die.

pros:
doesnt take constant vacations
ACTUALLY RECOGNIZES THAT THE MODDING API IS IMPORTANT
cons:
not notch
