Let's all forget Notch as soon as possible. He is apparently just too lazy to even work on Minecraft. Besides, most of minecraft has already been coded by Jeb... so from now on I don't want to see anyone mentioning Notch and Minecraft in the same sentence.

I dont understand why people find this so surprising, Notch has been planning other things and 'secret projects' for awhile, it was only a matter of time after Minecraft came out.
Holy ****! Well FVdisco you've got some remodeling to do. I wonder how many people are still going to insist Notch is still creator of mine craft. Well, Jeb, you are now ruler of a 4 (arguably 16) million person empire. Sad to see notch go, he was such an emblem, but glad to see Jeb here and making one of the most community-driven games in the world even more so.
dragon is not alloud to rip anything out unless notch has a final say on it, additions are to jeb but if jeb rips out what notch spent a week on, im pretty sure there could be issues.
Notch has confirmed that Jens Bergensten (better known to the community as Jeb) will now be the Lead Developer for Minecraft, going forward. This gives Jeb final say in all design decisions, though Notch jokingly added that he made him "promise to not pull rank." Notch cites personal time and additional projects as reasons for his stepping down, but makes it a point to say that he will still be involved in Minecraft development.
Notch added that it was a "scary move, but I feel strangely confident. I guess we've worked close enough for long enough for me to feel confident about it. He's exactly what Minecraft needs right now. He's a bit more mod friendly than I am, and we need to embrace mods more."
Jeb commented on the situation as well, stating that he wasn't "sure when the idea came up the first time (from Notch), but it has been a few months now. We all knew that Notch was going to work on other things after release, so it kind of seemed natural for me to 'take over'."
Jeb's next step is to work on the mod API for Minecraft, a long-awaited feature for players and modders alike. He had the following to say on the API:

O.o I honestly did not see this coming... This must put a lot of pressure on Jeb, now that he's taking Notch's place. I mean, being the head developer of Minecraft? That's quite a big thing. What? How on earth did you get that idea? Jeb will not be removing features, his only focus is Mod API which will allow users to download mods easily. After that point, it is up to the mod community to add stuff to Minecraft which is respectable and a very great move by Mojang. You kiddos complain about Minecraft added this or added that. Now you can find a mod to meet any need you have so everybody is happy. Although, I'm sure you kiddos will complain that Jeb or whoever is lazy.
I think this is actually a good thing honestly... I think notch is going to stay the face of minecraft since hes still the creator though which is even better. so I think theres really nothing to worry about here
