Don't slag off Notch. He did his bit, and he did it very well, but now, i believe, it is time for him to step down. And he has. Good on him. He will forever be the founder of Minecraft, and we should never take any credit away from him.
Jeb is going to be awesome. as Notch said, he is just what Minecraft needs.
And finally, Im looking forward to sheep that grow back their wool. Nuf said.

That's a bad thing? I men the "RIP MINECRAFT" thing is kind of an over reaction based on the only different thing about minecraft is Jeb is the Lead Developer. And who cares that Dragons will be "phazed out". I never seen a dragon and i never want to. There are few ways to kill dragons from what i hear and they can go through blocks. I mean whats up with that? come on I think this Jeb thing is just what minecraft needs. A fresh mind. Notch was CLEARLY running out of ideas. Congratulations Jeb. You have earned it.
I'm thrilled for mod API, it's the one thing I understand and know how to work with. :smile.gif: However if dragons will in fact be phased out, I will be very, very sad indeed. Oh well. At least now it'll be easier to make a mod to get them.
Notch has said from the beginning that he would eventually become bored or busy and hand it off to others. He said when he got really tired of it and didn't want to do it anymore at all, he'd open-source it. Well, folks, the source has been available (albeit not officially released) for a bit now. And Notch has other projects, other challenges.
Notch, good luck in your new endeavors. I know it's not good-bye, but with your focus elsewhere... well, good luck on the things you're focusing on! :biggrin.gif:
Jeb's been part of things for a long time. He's smart, he's clever, and he's already been in it. We've already seen his work. Many of the things Notch gets full credit for are from Jeb. He is, as they say, a worthy successor.
Jeb, welcome to the spotlight. Please, don't take the naysayers personally. There are gripers in every crowd and at every change. Players rarely appreciate what gets done for them, and you can't please everyone with _anything_.
I am not a programmer. I am a writer, an artist, and a mother. However, I can appreciate good code when I experience it, and I can _certainly_ appreciate someone who listens to the community.
I'm personally glad we have someone in charge of the game now who's more open to modding. I look forward to the api, and to the new mods that will hopefully come. Heck, if I can convince my husband to work on the coding with me (or get a coding-monkey-partner-thing), I can promise a few new mods myself, once we have it. I've had a bunch of neat ideas, but haven't done anything with them because... well... I'm not a coder. :smile.gif:
So anyway, welcome Jeb! Glad to have you out here where we can see you.
I think jeb will use a modded curse client along side bukkit to accomplish this task. This would be fairly easy to implement. Different jar file for a different server would be the best way to go. All you would do is install the curse client, let it run. Connect to the server of choice, bukkit detects on join hands curse a list of mods it needs to install, client closes down, installs mods, client restarts and joins server after mods are installed. Rinse and repeat for updates.
Help the egg hatch please?

Click him or he'll die
I am glad to see him take over, I am glad that notch is working on other things now. I think Jeb is the man for the job
I hate Jeb now.
Anyways I think this is great news I have been looking forward to easy mods for a long time.
YES! YES!
modding api will come to life
plus, anything that jeb "phases out" modders can recode them in easier
TG: john is TG: im not
