Awesome, I finally got off my rear and updated from 1.2.5 to 1.6.4 and now this! After reading these comments though I can see that there is clearly no reason for me to rush and try to update, again.

It's your post (#10) that mainly stopped me from wanting to update. Thank you for saving me some serious headaches.
Ok, so I went playing around on a server that supports 1.7.2, and found out a LOT, and i mean a LOT of bugs (Bukkit still hasn't updated, that's probably one reason) first of all, the bed texture is messed up, and when you go in it, you can't get out unless you relog, some of the chat is white, and you can only place one kind of flower down, the remade rose I think. Please reply if you have seen similar issues. It's a bit hard to roleplay with the bed glitch, and sometimes the chat is jumbled up or I can't see some chat at all o_o it's weird. As I said, it's probably because Bukkit hasn't updated yet, and the server I play on is supported by Bukkit so :/
This sounds relatively minor compared to the rest of the server bugs for this version.
1.7.2 is so horribly broken i cant even play on servers....sohuld have been fixed already come on...
i feel like this version is rushed to release and lets deal with the problems later

Keep in mind that this was a massive update (took more than 5 minutes to download on my launcher), and that it was rushed because of minecon (which makes sense for business, as it will heavily promote the game). Mojang is a small gaming company that has only been in business for a few years, so they likely don't have too much experience with this kind of thing. Not only that, but because this update was so big, it's perfectly understandable that it will take at least a week for bukkit to update (maybe even a month).
Besides, multiplayer servers usually can't update unless bukkit does, otherwise things will be pretty unstable, and there cannot be any plugins. This update is taking the game slowly in the right direction IMO.
I don't like 1.7.2 at all because its just mods, and I can install mods easily with Forge. In my opinion, this is the worst update I have seen, IT'S JUST MY OPINION PEOPLE, DON'T HATE!
What I think is kidna bad about this update is that you can no longer make mobs attack you in
creative mode :-/ (I like leading creepers into steel door traps and now I can't.)
What they did with 1.7.2 is so amazing that OF COURSE I CANNOT ACCESS MY COMPUTER NOW *facepalm* *facepalm again* why cruel world!!!! i was so excited too. Of course. Still, the MCWiki explanation for 1.7.2 is so amazingly big. There are new commands too and stuff. In Single Player Commands there was a /spawn now it is /summon and not only dat you can spawn item with /give. Yah so wat that has always been in Minecraft so? Now you can spawn them with NBT configurations such as SkullOwner:TheEnderKidTZX or maybe SkullOwner[TheEnderKidTZX] I'm not sure. No more NBTEdit! Just so much more it is awesome play it now now now do it why are you reading the rest of this go play it play it I'll give you a cookie if u go play just go. u want more? 2 cookies? 7 cookies? A free Minecraft account? NO WAY!

It is not that it is rushed, it is that server software such as bukkit hasn't been updated yet. It is the server that has been "rushed". If there is problems with gameplay than maybe all of the above is wrong.

You too. Although I do have a friend who loves potatoes and will ask where is it if you tell him "potato bacon fuse". He "kills" you if you are joking and acts like "tomato" is a swear word
I had to roll the game back... the bugs are so terrible with this version :/
potatos don't grow, chickens still get through fences, monsters now go UNDER fences to attack, the rendering errors are getting worse again... way to drop the ball guys.....
Great update, but...I got this message after updating:
"Old graphics card detected, this may prevent you from playing in the far future as Open GL 2.1 will be required"
I thought part of this update was suposed to IMPROVE performance on old machines. MY computer is 11 years old, and, as I have no income currently, I can't afford a new one.
That's because many, many Bukkit servers haven't been updated. 1,7 was a huge update, and 1,7,2 is full of bugs, and between that, the code changes are expansive and everyone's been assuming 1,7,3 would be out by now.
In minecraft 1.7.2 the nice update is new biomes! Best biome is mesa biome!Thanks Mojang for this beatiful update . Yeaaaaaaaah! I love to build on mc 1.7.2. I love to install mods on 1.7.2!
The update rocks, so much more to explore, anybody tried the amplified version? When I tried it the mountains were insane, worked fine on single player, can't imagine a server running amplified though, too many blocks lol. Yeah I agree a water mob is needed badly to add that suspense element while traveling the seas. Maybe a shark, or a giant squid lol.
I would love to update, just waiting for bukkit, MCP, etc... to update.

I have to agree with you. I don't want to, but facts are facts.
I'm almost at the place where I am ready to set up my own world & fraps it. this is wretched. I can't even be on our server for 5 minutes anymore.
