I'm adoring the looks of this snapshot! Though with all this food now, I'd love to see them have effects. Sure you could grow all kinds of food, but as it stands they only fill your hunger, you could have a wheat farm or grow potatoes and carrots, or go kill a pig or two and be fine for 3-4 days. Giving different foods varying effects (cooked fish gives a slight swim bonus, cooked pork gives one extra hunger bar that goes away when you becoming hungry, cooked beef gives one extra heart that goes away when you're hurt, cakes gives a slight speed buff, carrots raise your sight by one light level for five minutes, potatoes make you slightly harder to knock back, apples make hunger drop slower etc) would defenitly make new foods an even more welcome addition as well as encouraging us to expand our pallets and making a full on farm a great boon! Not only that, but it would also make farmers in say, RP servers a good deal more interesting than just growing a 8x10 field of wheat to sell to folks.
There is one bug, everytime I sit down my dogs or if they tp to me they end up stuck in the ground (and getting hurt too). When I sit them down, after a while... they somehow get inside the ground (my wooden floor) and suffocate it happens every time... like after 1 min or 30 seconds. They get stuck in the ground again, is this normal or is it some bug I never knew about? If it is a bug, then may you please fix it?

Lookin' good on the maps, even if they be a bit buggy.
The stairs are also pretty fancy, unless you have multiple instances of stairs, and do not wish to have a corner version. Again, easy to iron out once the snap becomes an update.
I have not played with the frames yet, due to having a crash before getting to that. So I decided to write up a post here.
PS: My game crashes when I try to "expand" a map. (Map + 8 paper surrounding) Just a pre-warning, not a complaint
Anyway, looking good Mojang! I love the potential for mobs + nether. Now I can get some animals to my island, without building a million mile bridge!
One last comment, I thought Zombies ate brains? I love that you are adding more farming fun, but to limit it in such a way is kinda odd. (My opinion). If it is because of the potions, remember the steps required to start brewing.
Get to nether (3 diamonds + 10 (or 14) obsidian)
Get to nether fortress (Travel N (or S) for a distance, sometimes sizeable!!)
Get some nether wart (easy if you remember to grab some...derp)
Kill a blaze (if you're unlucky kill a couple of them)
That's a hefty ransom already, carrots are a food! And potatoes? You're telling me that the Zombies are low on starch and beta-carotene? Remember, cocoa beans don't grow in chests
I am just screwin' around; methinks honestly that Mojang is doing a hell of a job!
heres a bug i encountered. i made a map, which is exploded view now i guess. anyways my old map of the "region" erased when i made a new seperate map. i tried this again. made a third map and my second one blanked. i put one in a frame, tried to remove it and it dissapeared.

I love this idea.Anyone know how to zoom back IN to a map? If possible?
I would like to say, I would much rather have a GUI for the Item Frames. I would like to click the item in/out out the slot, rather than right clicking the sign once, breaking it, and doing it again. A simple GUI with 1 slot for the item, the player's inventory, and 2 buttons for rotating the Item Frame.
I would also like the possibility of being able to make bigger Item Frames. Craft them 2x2, and now you can put 4 items in them, all rendered according to their slot order. With this, maps should be able to join edges to form 1 large map.
I really do like the updates to maps allowing a bigger view of the area around you.
Maybe one possibility for maps is to render them the same way you see it in first person, on other player's screens, rather than just the player holding a map item.
There's also a bug. Try to store throwable items in the frame. It throws them before you can put them in. The block activation event should be called before the item right click event.
i am liking the updates, but id prefer so see some more building blocks come out in the near future, always wood, stone and wool blended houses. cool that they're implementing decor type items to fill homes. I am just waiting on more building blocks like marble or another block to build with.

I use sandstone or Endstone as marble. I find Bricks to be really bad for building houses. It's way too busy.
The new stone fences will be awesome for the ridges of my Great Wall of Minecraft! Also I was thinking of making street lamps using the stone fences instead of the wood, It looks a lot sturdier.
Maybe instead of making item frames or as an alternate, use Risugamis Shelf Mod as more people would like it that way - Here is the post
Shelf 1.3.2
Ever wanted to store your items in a way you can see them? Here you go. This block allows you to add up to 9 items to it and the items you put in are shown in the world. Requires ModLoader 1.3.2.

Holy crap, i was just thinking and realised that the dying of armor could have a much larger impact than we all think. With things like MCpatcher and texture pack creators being able to make mobs and such have multiple textures, i can see dyed leather armor actualy taking on different appearances in texture packs. Perhaps then a mod might come out that segregates a color(s) to certant ranks as well as using these texture packs, so blue dye might make leather armor look like elven armor, grey dye like dwarven etc etc...

You do know that when you play with a snapshot you are testing it to find bugs like that... right?
But these items are what the community always wanted. Best update so far!
