Yes, and calling one of the most popular mods in all of MC a "placebo" isn't trying too hard.
Smug defends smug.
Not impressed. Passively stating personal conjecture based on personal experience is not an accusatory stance. Don't try to turn the tables on me when you can't, much less after I pointed out that your posting tone and agenda is both unreasonable and unnecessary.
It does have improvements in framerate for some users but indeed not for everyone, I personally use it to have multithreaded chunk loading AA and AF on my minecraft in addition to removing the bogus depth fog.
I'm aware that optifine has those. I'm just saying in my experience it's barely been a benefit or it's actually a disadvantage. My framerate drops dramatically when using optifine. And Forge doesn't support HD textured water, and I hate the HD default water Forge comes with. So it's either take a low framerate or have hideous water. I find myself using the HD McPatcher then, because it actually works perfectly for me, but then that's incompatible with Forge because the developers are too stingy to work something out. So now I don't have access to a roughly 90% of the mods out there now as they're all Forge-reliant!
This is why I'm so excited for the API, render rewrite, and native HD texture support.

Oh, so it's going from standard forum responses to something personal? Why? Did you click on my profile just to look for ammo to use against me? Well, at the least you did confirm my suspicions of your online character. I could never work up the energy or care to act like that, but bravo to you, I guess. Let's just move on.
Why no smoothstone stairs? I just don't get it, wouldn't it take them like 3 seconds to implement? I guess they think smoothstone is a naturally occuring block so it wouldn't make sense.....Good thing everything else in the game makes perfect sense....
i really can't wait for this update!!!!!. IT IS GOING TO BE THE MOST IMPORTANT AND AWESOME UPDATE IN MINECRAFT HISTORY. This will send mine craft into a whole new universe of never-ending possibilities seriously mine craft will never end its spark to people's creative, fun, and adventurous side.
Actually, putting more server-side seems like it would help, especially if a computer can use more than one processor core. Am I right? Or do need to be corrected? lol
At first I have no clue what you just said. But are you trying to say there adding a folder for mods like they did Texture packs?
APIs, in very general terms, are simplified ways that modders can hook their mods into the game. Right now, with no API, MInecraft is like a black box. To mod it, you have to take a hammer to it to break it open, dig your arms into the tangle of wires and goop, and shove your stuff in wherever it will fit. When the API comes out, that black box will have hundreds of plugs where modders can plug their stuff in and have it just work.
But yeah, as far as you (the user) is concerned, you'll probably be able to just throw all your mods into a folder and select them, much like you do Texture Packs today.
So he's a typical smug programmer who loathes the people who pay for his Lambo. Got it.
This was the API panel, so the devs asked that people keep their questions to API-related topics. Of course many people asked off-topic questions (some of whom were children and so can be forgiven).
At no point in the panel was anyone from Mojang even the slightest bit rude to any questioner, no matter how off-topic or stupid the question.
Throw us a little bone here, willya? It shouldn't be the hardest thing to add, unless there's an issue with the texture not wrapping properly, as I noticed with a modified netherbrick texture a couple of versions ago.
There's some misinformation being passed along here. According to Dinnerbone's twitter:
"Nathan Adams @Dinnerbone
I'm not sure where people are getting this from, but we never said that the API is in 1.5 in either of our panels (1.5 one or API one)"
Whats interesting is that I asked that question here on this thread .. nothing was wrong with my post about it as I said nothing wrong. It was an honest question for them to show proof of where they got this info. And the MODS here censored and removed it and any evidence showing they said that here in the OP. This thread got a 1 star out of 5 for censoring their mistakes.

Water that goes upwards....
Then I can't wait for January when you add your first mod using the new API!
