Stop making new content ffs.
Make the Mod API already so we can make this stuff ourselves.
You promised us the API in 2012, implying release during 2013 and now it's 2014.
Mojang. PLS.
"Stop releasing 100% free updates, which other game companies would call 'expansion packs' and charge an extra $20 for!"
I'm sorry, but that's all I heard from your comment.
This update is fine and all, except all of this can be, and is done with mods. Why not focus on making a way for each update to not break all the mods instead of tossing a grab bag of tiny features our way.

YES!!! AGREED!!! CUT WITH THE DAMNED NEW FEATURES AND GIVE US THAT MOD API ALREADY!!!
well then don't update and play on mods then....
If you don't appreciate the work Mojang are putting into the game (considering they just came off their new years holiday) then stop playing the wonderful game that is Minecraft and find some other overrated game to play
If you think Mojang is so good, go and ask them why the Mod API isn't out yet.
I see a lot of people complaining about the new stone types. Personally I think it's great, more variety and more options for building is always good, though yeah, I do agree that they could do with a make-over in the texture department, but then I use a variety of texture packs so it's not the end of the world for me.
I don't see an issue with mossy stone bricks being more accessible either. People complaining that they should be rare will find PLENTY of them inside Strongholds, which are easy to locate. (At least now i'm not hollowing out the entire Stronghold just so I can have Mossy Bricks.)
Considering this is a Snapshot, I'm eager to see what else is in store for the new update.

ALMOST everything that this snapshot had was great! But I am yet to see another addition in the World Generation. Maybe biomes (wait...these aren't biomes. I really don't know what you call a small place IN a biome...) like a Cliff and a natural river and waterfalls! That would be sooo cool! And when rivers are gonna be there, water currents (without the water level going down, it just goes on a direction) would be a great addition also. And a jungle beneath the cliffs... And moss stone/cobble forming on the river.... Ahhh.............

I don't know, maybe because they know that while mods are popular a majority of the more than 10 million registered Minecraft users play vanilla?
Face it, those that use mods are a loyal and outspoken group of players, but they are a minority.
(Edit.. oh, there are more that 13 million paid users.. guess I was behind the times.. )
cant believe people complain about the game 'ripping off' mods. thats a GOOD thing. firstly because then we dont need to have the mod, and secondly because it improves the game. This game has so many great features that used to be mods only and i dont know about you, but i hate installing mods then waiting 500 years for them to be updated. Smooth lighting is my favourite thing to ever come from a mod. It would be good if theyd do the damn API but until then, rip away. Id be honored if mojang put any mod i made into the game!

the whole thing comes down as to what they think came first initially the game or the mod. Bugs the pit out of me when they start to sob "stealing from mods" when the game belongs to mojang and mojang allows modders to modify.

Basically, all people saying they stole from mod, Well, they legally have the right to "steal" from mods.

In other news, the Mod API has now officially reached HL3 status.
In other news, the Mod API has now officially reached HL3 status.
Eternally promised but never to be released.
Most mods post a description or screenshot on this website. That's enough for Mojang to "modify and adapt that content".
As for the Mod API, a few people have pointed out that several changes have been made to slowly build Minecraft towards that point. There have been several comments made on the Forge website that 1.7 removes the need for block ids, which is critical if you don't want the hassle of resolving them with each and every mod added to the game. I believe the sound rework in 1.7 also makes it a bit friendlier for modders too, but I've heard less about that. Resource packs are also a step in that transition.
In short, the Mod API is not Mojang's first priority, but at some point they'll either make it or make the source Minecraft code so Mod API friendly that updates cease to break Forge, which would accomplish the same thing.
This update looks like it's gon b gud.

Yeah, I found that out later after I said that. At least I achieved my life goal!
