Figuring out what to do
My first night was not on a game of my own. (it was a world of my own, but my friend let me play on his account on about beta 1.3) I was, also like you, wandering aimlessly but also asking my friend what the heck to do. thanks to his help, i made a little cave home in the side of a (what old minecrafters would call, but new ones would call a pretty steep hill) mountain. So then i started wandering around punching pigs out of boredom and when the pig dropped a pork chop (or if anything dropped anything xD) i ask him what it is. Panic/ the escape
When my friend noticed the sun was setting and we were to the point that you couldn't even see the mountain that i lived in on far render distance, he started panicking telling me to get to the mountain i lived in before a creeper blew me up (at this point both of us were yelling at the screen for our minecraft character to move faster). By the time we got to the mountain i was getting chased by 2 zombies and a creeper. The boredom of the night
If I remember correctly, all night on minecraft we were just watching some videos of some cool games my friend saw on the internet. By the time dawn broke i had to go. and THAT'S my story of the first night i survived.
Now that i re-read this, I'd say my memory's pretty good xD
On my first night in minecraft, it was 1.3.2 and i had NO idea how to craft. I experimented and made crafting tables, sticks, tools and other blocks. I chopped down entire trees with my hand and before i knew it, night fell. I made a wood sword and was relentlesss fighting monster after monster, while getting hungrier and hungrier before finally, HSSSSSS.... WHA BLAM! that was the end of day one, if not the end of that world for i deleted it and was MAD!

I remember my first time playing minecraft. A looooooooooong time ago... the ORIGINAL minecraft! No survival, just build with a very small selection of blocks. I don't know if it's still available to play, but it was free, since it was beta to the beta. Ah, how minecraft has changed.

When people die, they are reincarnated as shrubs. Or dung beetles. It doesn't matter.
My first night was a bit easier for me. It all started with my son, he had found this game he liked and had been playing for free through a web browser. His only complaint being nothing he did could be saved unless he had the real game. At that time this strange retro game my son had found was still in beta and the cost was pretty cheap, so I said why not lets buy a copy for him. The next week was spent listening about zombies, and skeletons, and some strange thing called a creeper. A lot of time was spent answering calls of "hey come look what I did" which mostly consisted of me watching him blow something up. After a week I started hearing talk of "Mods" and how he wanted to play with this that and the other thing. Being the tech savvy member of the family the task of getting "Mods" fell to me. In order to do this I had to break down and learn a few things about this game my son was in love with. After a few hours on the forums and the wiki I decided I needed to boot this little time waster up, and get some hands on experience before I started tinkering with the program out of the box. So with my son over my shoulder we booted things up and I started to run around this strange blocked world. With my ever present young navigator I was quickly educated in punching trees to get wood, building a small house for protection and the basics of the blocks I should be looking for as I was directed to dig a tunnel down, "but not straight down". Within 10 minutes I was hooked, without realizing it my son had stumbled onto a world of unlimited Legos, on steroids, and there was no going back to anything else after that. I built my little house. I cut down trees, dug out cobblestone, iron, coal, and all the other shines I could find. I made chest after chest filling them with everything I came across. I quickly ran out of room in my little hut for chests and began expansion. My hut became a castle, the castle a fortress. The only limits I had were my imagination, all still in plain old vanilla. As my first few days came and went my ever present son continued to talk about Mods. I was already very happy with the game as it was and didn't see any reason for mods, (yes I was a noob I didn't know any better) after a week of pestering he finally won, and I started looking at mods again. He wanted Buildcraft, IC2, and redpower 2. There were weapon mods, and mods with more creatures. Some of the mods needed other mods, and the more I looked the more daunting his request began to look. However, after a few days of research I decided I was ready to give them a try. With dozens of tabs open to different pages I began my first attempt at downloading and installing mods. After many many MANY failed attempts and countless visits to forums and wikis we finally had our Mods installed and could launch without crashing. By this time I decided with all the effort I put into getting this wonderful game to work with some interesting sounding additions it was only fair I should get to experience the joy they added to the game. So with buildcraft IC2 and a couple other mods installed I loaded up a new world again and that was the end of me playing any other game PC, console, or otherwise.

The devil stole my blue berry muffin and angels drank my milk
My first day of minecraft i did not have a clue of what i was doing first i was like running through the forest for like 5 min and then i saw the sun was going down, i started digging into a mountain and made a little hobbit hole. The day after i started getting some wood then ive got some wood and then i started building a small house it was made of dirt, wood, planks. Then it got nighttime outside and i tried to make a door i made it on my first try i placed it and waited for it to become daytime then a zombie breaked my door and i got so scared and then killed me. Then i respawned i spawned right next to an enderman and i thought it was an alien and screamed and runned and 2 seconds after i got killed And i started playing minecraft in 2011
When i first heard about minecraft was in the winter of 2011. Introduced to the game by someone else, I grew bewitched by the game, whether it was because of the beauty, strategy, or the thrill of the game. The person who was playing explained the game to me. He talked about mobs, the punch-to-get-wood, and almost the whole kit and caboodle. I bought a couple spin offs for my ipod until i decided 2 weeks later that i needed to get the game. (So yeah, i cheated the creeper surprise.)
The First day and night.
When i first started the game, i was in this field, in a valley next to a swamp and a mountain. When i first started playing, i didn't know where to go or what to do. Never before had i have an ability to do whatever i felt like. This feeling captivated me with minecraft and id love it for the feeling ever since. I wandered around aimlessly with a guide in hand helping guide me to make items (Minecraftatopia!). Got wood from some nearby trees and chopped up some grass.
So then i went venturing into a nearby cave i found some coal which i learned from the guide can help me smelt and make torchs. I crafted some and started putting it at the mouth of the cave. As soon as i finished placing the last of my torchs i realized it was getting dark, and i had no wool. I quickly scrambled to the top of the mountain nearby and made myself a dirt/wood shelter with no roof. And i just sat there and waited. Then that awful snickering from your friendly neighborhood spider climbed over the walls and bit me to death. I sat there in disbelief and with an open mouth. I respawned, learned from my mistakes and tried again.
The days to come.
Days came and went as did the worlds. I had lost the original world due to accidental deletion. But i bounced back to newer ones, ones with more to explore and understand. I started getting better with redstone till i almost became a master at it (Which still surprises to think back to the days when i would try to understand how redstone even worked.). I raged time and time again from creepers and falling into lava while digging down. I remember when i first met cavespiders, the evil little pricks. Thought them as typical spiders and found myself poisoned to death. Hardcore worlds i played but got tiring due to lack of progress upon death, even though i was careful about it! I learned from my mistakes, i tried again. And it went over and over again. Now I'm standing on top of my house in a single player world I've been playing for almost a year now. I sit and wonder the work i have done and what i have ahead. I know i am far from over, even if i have mastered everything the game has to offer. There are still contraptions to design, experience to gain, cities to build, roads to be paved, creatures to be nurtured, monsters to be conquered, and areas to explore. There will be more times of success, times of defeat. Times of merrymaking, times of solitude. Times of life, and times of death. There is still much work to be done for what little i have come from.

Unfortunately, I never experienced the "first night" other Minecrafter's experienced. See, I watched hundreds of Minecraft videos for around 2 years, until I finnally bought it.(Not debating wether to buy it, but young-money limitation). I am a bit saddened by this, But still find Minecraft to be quite fun.
I started my first Minecraft world was made back in alpha 1.0. I had just heard about minecraft from my father, so I played on his account on his computer. I spawned on a beach by a forest. I knew a little about the game, so I started punching a tree. After I got some wood, I experimented with crafting. I made myself a wooden axe, pick, and a hoe, but at that time I thought it looked like a half pick. So I found a nice Mountain, and dug my way into it, and I made a small Hobbit Hole. But because there where no item names, I couldn't tell the difference between flint and coal, so I spent the whole night wondering why I couldn't make torches, and I just sat in the darkness, taunting skeletons, zombies, spiders, and green things. Then the next morning, I found out how to make a sword. This was useful, so I went out and killed everything in sight. I learned how to make arrows and a bow, and at that point I felt unstoppable. I found each mobs weakness, and nothing could stop me. So one night, I was killing everything in sight, when I saw a glow in the distance. It was very mysterious. I went over to investigate, and I found lava. I was looking at it, then I heard an arrow hit me, and I flew straight into the lava, and died. I didn't know what to do. I had no idea where I was to go, or which way I should go. So, I went out and explored, for days and nights, I survived trying to find my house. When it seemed all hope was lost, I saw a glow in the distance. Was it the lava again? With no question, I went over to it. I had done it! My home was here, in front of my eyes! I never left my home in that world again, and to this day, I still remember my old world, and I hold it dear to my heart.
Like alot of people My Firsts expeiriences with minecraft were on the demo version. The first thing i can remember doing was building a boat and exploring. I eventually came to a small island where I had a feeling i should dig down. I wasnt sure why but i eventually hit my first cave system and found alot of the ores. My First house that I can remember being proud of was made of glass in a river, whitch i somehow mannaged to not die of drowning and mobs. The noises that mobs made in the night really freaked me out until I crafted my first iron sword and i remember thinking: " with this I can defeat ANYTHING" so i went into the forest feeling like a badass and it was very soon that I was running for my life and dieing repeatitly trying to get back my precious iron sword. So from then on i remembed to never off the creatures of the night. That was back in 2.4 or 5 and sive then ive come a long way!
I found out about Minecraft through my gifted class last august. I thought it was cool, so I bought MCPE Lite. It was really primitive by Xbox and PC standards. There were no crafting, or finite items. I wandered around aimlessly, without a care in the world. Then night fell. I was all alone. I saw an unfamiliar figure off in the distance. It looked a bit like a player. I walked towards it, and I lost hearts! I ran and hid in a wooden box. I was too terrified to leave until day, when they burned up. I left the box and ran off, only to see a zombie go after me from a distance. I went and died. I've come a long way since then, but I am still scared to death of hostiles, even in creative mode.

My first night in minecraft was about 4 years ago. i used to play Classic a lot so i knew how to place and destroy blocks already. When i first heart about Minecraft Beta i jumped to get on it. I started at about 1.5. i had no idea how to break blocks and didnt know that i had to hold left click to break anything. i tried to figure out what i had to do but i manged to break some dirt and thats it. Then i saw some zombies and i ran. i built myself a little pit with my bare hands, more like a tomb. i watched some videos on how to play and then i figured it out. i got some wood and made a wooden pickaxe i mined a little staircase. i heard a dungeon and it scared the out of me i ran back up and just made things. The mext day was my birthday and i made myself a Cake. My brother called my a fat hoar Haha
The first time I played, I was a total noob. I only figured out how to punch wood after a whole minute, and when I crafted the crafting table, I had no idea how to place it. Luckily, my friends taught me how to play. My first night was spent in hardcore, so I built an underground house. No mobs came, since I sealed off the opening and spammed torches (I found a lot of coal, was lucky I guess). Then I went out and SPOOF was blown up by a creeper
I remember my first day. I started playing on MCPE Lite Version, and then I got the full version on iOS. I walked into my world, and I noticed that unlike the Lite version, Survival didn't give you the tools and really resourceful blocks and didn't leave you to find stuff like clay and stuff. In fact, I was surprised that there wasn't anything, when it suddenly occurred to me that I had to find the resources. I was playing in Pocket Edition 0.5.0, so when I punched the trees and figured out there was the MATTIS "4x4" crafting in my inv. I booted it up, and then crafted my crafting table by doing the planks stuff. I then got planks and by then it was nighttime. I ran for my life until daytime, then found the corner of the world where there weren't any creepies. I didn't know about the mobs and what they do, and I only found zombies so I didn't suspect it was hard. Until I found a skeleton who trapped me into a river and shot me to death. I respawned and ran trying to find a place to build and hide, when I saw a spider (in daytime still). I didn't know that spiders were neutral in daytime, so I tried to avoid him and thought I was lucky to not get seen. I found the corner of the world, and it was close to the spider, but I knew it was far enough to not get detected by the spider in any time. I built a really small house, got a craft table, got a bed, and a chest. I only knew how to craft them because the MATTIS system let you know the recipe, you just needed the resources. I then was working to get a bigger but still wooden (I didn't know how to get stronger blocks, I didn't even know there WAS stronger blocks) house. While I was working, I heard a boom (I did hear a hiss but I thought I was hearing things) and I died. Then I finally remembered what I read in the MCWiki and after minutes of raging, I came to the conclusion it was a creeper. Then I became a MC geek and play on the computer.
I remember the first time I played, when night came I dug into the side of a mountain and hid from the zombies until it was day time again. I didn't have a clue what I was doing but it was incredibly fun. Eventually I made the basic tools and started creating my first house. It was basically a cat and mouse game between me and the zombies at night. I would try and get as many resources as I could and then book it back to my house before dark. I probably played like that for eight hours straight
I started playing in Alpha, the game has indeed changed a lot. I miss the old versions but I like the direction the game has taken. It hasn't gotten too far away from it's roots.
You do know the new MC launcher allows you to play Alpha, Beta, and all Official Minecraft versions, and that the link to Classic at Minecraft.net still works (only SMP) if you saved the link somehow. I don't play these versions much (I did start playing when 1.4.6 was out, pretty good memories). But I bet you may.
Ahahaha my first night was so cool. This was back in alpha days when everything was simple so I call myself veteran. I spawned up hill and just started explored everything. Walked around and searched for a quest or at least some help what to do. Nothing. Just thought ugh boring so I punched at a grass. Hm intresting it breaks. So ok, nothing to do lets get some more of those xD
After that it went night and a zombie was right after me but I had nothing to defend myself. So I just used some dirtblock and made a stick. I stand on this 3 block stick the whole night and was almost scared to dead.
After some noobish research on the internet I figured out how to craft and all the other stuff. I learned a lot from the multiplayer mode. There where so much friendly and helpfull ppl at servers what teached me everything. So lets face the future was it will brings to minecraft. Can't wait for 1.7 but horses was bad idea. I don't really like them.
You are lucky. If I went to a server and asked for help…
"F*** you you don't know how to play MC"
Well I guess some people would try to help me cause they did with making books but they definitely won't now, cause of stuff that has been going on.

Back then, i knew the basics, How to punch a tree, Make a hidey hole, Tools, All the normal stuff. So, i started out with punching a few trees, I spawned next to a tiny mountain, Although i never really explored the other side, But anyways, I created a workbench, Crafted a few tools, And started digging into the mountain. I had to wait the night out, As i either dont believe beta 1.5 had beds, Or i just had no idea how to make one. The next morning i was greeted by a creeper and blown up. Aaaaaand thats all i remember.
