First of all I am a solo player, but I do play MMO's. I fully believe that no matter what the multi-player vote will carry this forum, because they will tell all their friends playing to come vote.
Solo players DON'T have that kind of community to call up and say hey come vote no!, so We'd have a hard time carrying a No Vote, only those of us that happen to see this post will know to vote, basically, it's not fair in the end
I did vote and I don't mind multi-player content being shown, My hope is that it will be balanced if that is at all possible!, and both, Single and Multi, Player content will be shown.
While I'm okay with servers being showcased, I know this post was pushed by the unrest that happened with the Hypixel server spotlight. If spotlights are going to be like that one, then no. It felt way too much like an advertisment for the server host than a spotlight for what is admittingly one of the greatest servers. (I play on Hypixel's myself).
I vote no if it is the same quality of a spotlight as Hypixel's. If you showcase the actuall server features instead of the player handeling capibility, maybe through a video or the like, then they would be welcome.

now before you go getting your knickers in a knot , let me explain.
spotlights on the communities (servers as such) have many places already, there is the server subforum , server lists, and even on the home page a recent posts for in the servers area.
however, if there are creations, mods, minigames etc that are new and inspiring, they are worth spotlighting i'm all for them being spotlighted ,
but not like an advert for a server or server hosting company. it gives me a feeling that they are paying or in some way compensating the reviewers/spotlighters especially when other games are mentioned that they also host. this also includes the section about "Whats happening on the web" on the home page, no matter what you click on there it takes you to the same site/server/service , nothing really relating to minecraft as such (maybe one or 2 of their tags do mention minecraft .. link to those sure.. but no need to put like a link section that links to THEIR current articles about things that aren't related to minecraft.
this is a minecraft forum and is looked upon an an official minecraft forum, and as such should really only deal with minecraft, there are many sites out there that are multi gaming / news sites
To me this site is all about minecraft (yes i know servers are minecraft too.. but only a part there of.) how about adding a recent mods panel like there is about the servers on the main (home) page.
I hope you all understand my opinions and respect them, i'm not trying to flame or put anyone down. however i'm sure that i'm going to get a huge negative reaction to this reply
PS: i've also PM'd Sachs as he has requested (to better explain my thoughts, we are friends and know each other as i was a staff member here too. like i said this is nothing personal. so please don't think that i'm attacking Sachs because i'm not. he is doing a very big task and is a great asset to the community. it wouldn't be the same without him
You see this as simply a market, I see it more as constructive criticism toward servers. You are right in the fact to point out that most of these would simply be adverts for servers, and that you would like to see more mods, tools, and so on, spotlighted. I want that too. But, you see, I want them to do the servers, not so that they can advertise it, I am sure Mojang is smart enough to show the community a servers goods and bads, and I am sure Mojang would never advertise a server as servers advertise themselves. For example, Sach would never stand up and say to the Minecraft community, "This server is the best PvP Faction server in the world, join now!" This is not an advertisement alike to that. You need to see past what server hosts are doing to the Minecraft community and look at what Mojang can do to the servers and the Minecraft community. This is a doubled edged blade. And frankly, if you don't like it, don't watch it, read it, or pay attention to it. Also, you say that servers are a "part" of Minecraft? Why don't they belong in Minecraft forums then?
Also, you said you know you will get a huge negative reply to your post. I don't really like to point out the logical fallacy in that of pity, but I feel I have to with this post. This post is not negative to you in anyway, I am simply counter-arguing your statements. I hope you take to knowledge that I am simply trying to state facts and provide background on this.
I see this as a simple stepping-stone to other topics such as mods. We can't expect all of these things to be thrown together in a pinch. I know you don't want this, but you don't need to have it. If you feel it simple enough to go to Planet Minecraft and find a server, go ahead, we can sit here and get our servers from Sach. Also, have you tried looking for that perfect server on a large forum such as Planet Minecraft and MCF? It is very difficult, especially when their photos are deceiving. I would rather have a third party that knows what goes on in there tell me beforehand so I don't have stacks upon stacks of servers piled in my server list.
That is all I have to say, take politely to my words, thank you.

While I love the idea of being able to see servers more easily, I just don't play on them. It'll be something I won't pay attention to or enjoy seeing/reading about
It may seem like larger server communities will get most of the attention, but it really depends on the skill and dedication of the builders. I've seen pairs of builders make cities (in survival!) that are great and deserve recognition. You could perhaps measure the staff/playerbase size against the merits of the project you find to pick the best.
1. It sounds like you're on the take and this isn't even a real convo.
2. The community would be SOOOOOO much better at disseminating the MASSIVE amount of information that is the forum listing that i assume... (refer back to reason 1).
I need to mention that I'm mistrustful because of the poll. You're asking kids this and there's a lot to understand about greed and business in this decision.
Put Ashton Kutcher on the poll and you will be covering Ashton Kutcher.
Edit: I actually spent a really long time thinking about this and writing about this, so I will private message Sacheverall the full message that i distilled down to this (just in case he's actually a cool dude [Edit: Judging by his initial response, he's not, but I'm not satisfied not knowing for sure, so I'm gonna message him again]<Edit: He is cool, YAYYYY!! Took us a minute to privately hash some crap out. lol. He's probably as nuts as I am, but... in a good way! >).

My vote was technical (other). I believe there should be a new series to announce servers instead of mixing them with creations. Maybe Server Saturdays, Wednesday's Wonderful Server, ect.
