This is the first addition that I can say with 100% certainty...I will never ever use it , or see anyone else use...oh well I knew there would eventually be one .
You guys are more depressing than CNN. It's been thousands and thousands of . . . minutes . . . since 1.7 was released. Based on history, I would venture a guess that Mojang is working on those bugs you're all whining about constantly. Seriously, go do some pushups or something.
Isn't it funny when people think that every snapshot should contain exactly what they want fixed. Did it ever occur to you that this has been in development since before the release of 1.7? Perhaps, since this update was based on the 1.7 code, they have to get it in place to see what happens before they start doing bug fixes? I'm not a programmer, so I don't know... just speculating. The point is, even with bugs in the game (not that I've even noticed any... I'm not saying that there aren't bugs, just that whatever they are, they don't affect my game play, certainly not enough to make 1.7 unplayable), it is still a great game, and has fantastic support and updates. And you know, if you believe that 1.7 is unplayable, well, then isn't 1.6 still fun enough of a game to play until such a time as 1.7 comes up to your standards?
By now we've all gotten used to the cycle of Mojang getting distracted from bugfixes to play with a shiny new toy, but they really raised the bar this time. What exactly was the thought process here?
From a business standpoint, twitch.tv obviously benefits, but what does Mojang get out of it? Is a little ad revenue worth tying their flagship game and their players to another company?
On the technical side, why make your game dependent on a third-party feature that 99% of players will never use? Some players can't even start the snapshots because the twitch library is missing or crashing. And the timing. They delay a much-needed 1.7.3 to cram in a major new third-party library dependency. One that by necessity must hook fairly deeply into the rendering code. Is it any surprise that we're already up to 13w47e?
Even the players who do want to stream won't necessarily want to be locked into one streaming service. And presumably the dedicated LPers will continue to post pre-recorded and edited videos, so again I ask, what is the point of this?
I'd rather bug fixing and performance tweaks then connection to a streaming service right now. That's a nice feature and all but some of us just want to play the game and not watch others or broadcast to others. Also how about that API stuff since it was talked about more then Twitch.TV over the years?
Finally if hooking up to Twitch TV is some sort of payoff to get more money in, how about doing a kickstarter instead to help get things like API's and bug fixing going since you want more money? I'm sure people will contribute to that and get more benefit out of that as well as the game sales from a better product and not one tied to a specific service.
I too would vote for performance and stability improvements before features. That said, I have been running 1.7.2 since it became available an a BeastNode account an accessing it from both the 1.7.2 client and this week's snapshot ands I have not run into any show-stopper bugs.
o Frame-rate: I sometimes play on a Surface Pro which has really slow video, but it has been perfectly playable full-screen with the settings turned down.
o Animals & Fences: I have lots of sheep & pigs and have not noticed any issues with them getting out. I do notice that if you have a fence one block away from a block of dirt that chickens get stuck in the fence. I just made sure my fences were at least two blocks from walls.
o Crashes: I have not had any game or server crashes in 1.7.2
The posts in this forum make it sound like the game is completely broken, and that is not my experience. Am I just lucky?
Can somebody please explain to me the appeal of Livestreaming, just in general? From what I understand, its just like YouTube or any other video hosting, except that its massively more inconvenient because you're only allowed to watch it once, at a specific time on a specific date... and they charge you for it. How is this a thing that people like?
I'm not going to join the angry crowd of people with torches and pitchforks, saying this is a bad snapshot. Unneccessary, yes, but not bad. The way I see it, this makes it easier for those who stream regularly or do livestreams at all. For the annoying idiots that don't, well, I hardly think that they'll get a huge reputation anyway.
For all the complaints about lack of bugfixing, I suggest people should lay off. Now, I see the obvious problem here, but bugfixing doesn't take a month to fix, considering all the bugs that are present. I don't see this update as a hindrance, I just see it as unnecessary now. I would rather them take two or three months and add it in to that update, but, as it stands, I don't see any benefits or setbacks. A bunch of 10 year olds being able to stream is quite easy if you ignore them. There's a reason that people have mostly stopped the spam and Bob comments on YouTube, it's because they're realizing how little of an impact they make.
Now, the only real problem I see of any relevance here is the difficulty behind this, but I am optimistic. I'm sure people will get used to this or Mojang will fix errors in how this works.
Thank you very much for speaking my mind Especially since there are bugfixes in this update, just some people are too lazy to actually go look at MCwiki and learn that for themselves.

Get with it, Sach.
This. Never better said.
