Am I the only one to notice..
The last two snapshots have had the randome 2 x 2 water source?
not to mention the 13W43A Snapshot
Had a random quote saying "
Just some speculation here..though I see something in this..
not to mention the red..golum thing in the various snapshot photos.
Nice catch I didn't notice that.
The reasonable and practical side of me is saying "that's probably just because of the fishing and boat updates',
The child inside me is screaming "THERE ARE MORE SECRETS IN THIS UPDATE, WE ARE GETTING TIME PORTALS FOR A PREHISTORIC NETHER TYPE OF WORLD WITH DINOSAURS AND RED DRAGONS. I'M GOING TO RIDE A TERIDACTIAL". child inside doesn't know how to spell pterodactyl.
I feel like I'm talking too much on this forum so I'm going to walk away now, at least for today.
I like the update as much as the next guy, but for the first time in my life I'm displeased with how small this update was, i was hoping for actually terrain change, but we got only biomes and slightly more variation, which is really saddening, Most terrain posts, which wanted a better terrain gen, pretty much gave up due to the majority wanting to break the game with a rediculously long list of content that always lag the game to high proportions every update.
Honestly I do still like minecraft but only by a small margin at this point, I see no point to playing Vanilla Single Player, mainly because of lack of performance and the fact that minecraft gets boring pretty fast, also Mojang themselves seem to have completely forgotten of the promises they gave us, of what they will add to minecraft, If theres anyone to blame about the fall minecraft (Which seem to be happening sooner, give it another year) it have to be pretty much everyone
Ofcourse I'm getting off-topic, either way 1.7 is good, but it's a matter of time when all the new biomes are discovered and once again like in the adventure update, people will begin to complain AGAIN. Well thats all i have to say.

the 2 x 2 water re-appears in the 1.7 image..in a shrine.. o.o
Seems like a ton of sounds aren't working in 1.7/1.7.1. Anybody else get this issue? Mostly player sounds like walking, breaking objects, picking up items, and the menu button select click.
EDIT: Never mind, it seems to be an issue with MultiMC 5.
As an aside, what is the purpose of selecting multiple resource packs? Does it use them all simultaneously? I'm trying to get multiple music packs to work (so I can have more than 12 music tracks max for Minecraft to draw from) but it doesn't seem to be working the way I thought.
EDIT: Ah, never mind. I just found this which explains it nicely!

Uh I dont like how It loads custom sounds, I prefer it being loaded in my custom ressource pack. That link you provided explains custom sounds needs to be in %appdata%/assets/sounds/...
So is there a better way to do this? Also, 1.7.1 s*ks. Going to be a bad update in my opinion. Network code is badly done, Shaders menu isn't even finished, able to change name is very bad, cause anyone can use whatever names they want on every server, (even if they banned, they try another server; Can be easily impersonated (eg: <Serverownername><insertbadwordhere>) this is a serious issue so why they plan it they dont even think it can be bad. Stop Mojang..., Ressource Pack sound isn't working (I saw it uses a sounds.json now) but I dont want to put my custom sounds in the folder. (I guess adding sounds.json in the ressource pack could work?) but its not noob friendly for customizing out sounds. Argh...
PS: Sorry for my bad rant for this im just upset about what theyre doing. I like new biomes though.
No they don't. That article is probably actually incorrect on one thing: you can't overwrite the sounds.json file in vanilla's assets folder. It even says so in the READ ME FIRST I AM IMPORTANT file in the same folder. But you can have your own sounds.json file in your resource packs. It actually opens up a whole realm of new possibilities that I'm excited about because now you can have multiple sounds for one event! And waaaaay more music files than just the standard 12! Resource Pack sounds are working with sounds.json. I've got it working nicely. The only problem right now is I don't think it's entirely possible yet to override vanilla sounds/music completely. You can have your custom sounds/music have way more of a chance to play than vanilla equivalents, but it will not overwrite. I'm sure Mojang will fix this.
Also, nametags being changed is not the same as login names being changed. I'm sure Mojang is working on a way to make this work. Possibly by making the login names viewable by server admins so people can't hide.
Also, there are fields for title music, nether specific music, end music, end dragon music, end credits music, and creative music! This might be paving the way for the exclusive new nether/end/credits/dragon/creative music tracks that are on the Xbox 360 edition. Plus we can have our own specific music for these areas! Think of your own ether music! Or end music! I've been waiting for this forever. This is a great update!
If you are running vanilla MC and having problems on atleast decent hardware it is understandable to be upset, I can agree with you there. What's not understandable is when someone gets upset at mojang for problems they experience after loading a mod that is not even made by mojang to begin with. Some mods are poorly coded or even need way more resources then the average user can spare. As of right now it's up to the user to find those things out not mojang.
You prob already know this but even if you have good hardware its a bad idea to max out the FPS unless you don't care about your render distance. And if you really do have a awesome PC try increasing the amount of ram MC can use in the Profile Editor a try. I use "JVM Arguments: -Xmx10G -Xms10G" since I have 16GB and 6GB is already over kill for all for all my back ground apps.
Yeah, I have nothing against Mojang at all. For all of their amazing bugginess, they remain one of my favorite developers. Definitely agreed on the bit of people complaining about the problems they have when using piles of mods. Mods can definitely be very screwy. For trying 1.7, I'm using the vanilla version. Not that there's any mods yet for that version anyway.
As for the settings and such, I did give it aboiut 10gb of memory with the JVM bit you mentioned (I'd been giving it 6 before), as this machine has 16. Turned off pretty much every graphical option that could possibly lower performance and the framerate was already capped at 60 (tested it at 30 too to see what happened). No effect from any of this, aside from the fact that chunks load really dramatically faster with Vsync turned off.
Cant really think of anything I havent yet tried. Even grabbed new video drivers and everything. It's absolutely baffling.
The only thing I can think of is that it may be a chunk-loading problem, instead of a render distance problem. I've no idea what to do about that one.
I'm trying 1.7.1. I found a horse, tamed it, rode it back to my house, and now I can't get off. And yes, I'm pressing the correct button to get off, but I can't. Is anyone else having this problem or is it just me.
Running 1.7.1 vanilla on near maxed settings, on the map type "amplified", using a x512 texture pack--- I never thought this day would come! Built in support for high rez texture packs? Awesome!
Edit: Screen shot links for the non-believers, and for people who find it too good to be true (like me).
Note: I am using the "secret" shaders, they are pretty cool.
I would have posted images instead of links but they are formatted as PNG, not to mention the fact that they are large, so the forums wont let me post them :I

That's been supported for a while, now. 1,5 I believe, since that's the update that broke MinecraftCustomiser.

............ Hmmmm i think you should go to your controls maybe its not the right button and try to re-run minecraft also check if your (right button) is working and your keyboard is well adjusted ..... just helping you know

Huh, I have always tried to use large texture packs before modding (less mods = less lag IMO) but minecraft always commits suicide on me (CTD without any logs of an error).

Dude you don't know what you are talking about, the 1.7 update is going to be the best update that we've had in a long time. I haven't seen the network coding yet, and I will, trust me, because I'm a modder, but i'm sure it's not as bad as you were saying. Everything they've done so far is a step for something greater. Once again the preview is obviously not the final product, so not everything is quite complete yet. There is no reason you should be judging this until it is completely finished.

A lot of texture packs still recommend Optifine or MCPatcher for various reasons, but I started working on mine after 1,5 because of the native support for hi-res. 16x is really too small to do anything in, imo. I'm running 128x on my fairly crummy computer, and it's still working well enough.
yay ! new BIOM'S . TREE'S . AND BLOCKS !!! that is so awesome ! it deserves diamonds !

Fixed it. Turns out Sprint and Sneak were both tied to the L-CTRL. I changed Sneak from L-CRTL to L-Shift.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
WIP 128x 64x, SEUS support, Mod support in the pipeline TEKKIT, FTB, the more support the more mods!
