The previews for the new biomes make this update look promising, for now. I also don't understand the hate for sunflowers and fall particles, I mean, they are purely cosmetic and don't change the game whatsoever. But I wish they would focus on adding some mobs to the empty and boring landscapes.

I thought adding horses to the game would be exciting, but what does Mojang go and do? They practically import horses from DrZ's mod. They're so OP they phaseout all forms of travel and item transport. Mojang should work on their own mobs and keep mod mobs out.
Horses have changed the single and multi-player experience forever by adding a new mode of transportation. Do you really want to keep riding saddled pigs for the rest of your life? Horses are much better. Stop hating on Jeb and Dinnerbone

As for the sunflower, F3 shows your direction anyway, so whats the point? Surly its only purpose won't be to show direction, so Dinnerbone must have a surprise in store. Did anyone notice that it is planted at the intersection of 4 blocks? Strange...
It's not planted at the intersection of 4 blocks. there are 9 dirt blocks, and it's on the middle one.

I'd be willing to wait for a December release if this update ended up fulfilling all of my expectations, because the longer they work on it, the more work is likely to be put into it.

I can think of many ways that minecarts, for instance, are still useful in their own right, and I've already explained why in an older thread, so I'm just going to quote it from such:

Believe it or not, the Minecraft community is actually pretty decent, for the most part. It's just that the minority of immature members are extremely vocal.
This update is probably going to be even better than all the previous ones. I'm really impressed. They are improving the world generation, which in my opinion is the best part of this update. The smaller things like the new flowers are welcomed bonus too. People don't realise how much one or two new items and blocks can actually give the game a fresh new feel.
As for the haters, I suggest you take your negativity elsewhere, this is a pro-minecraft forum. We are here because we love the game, despite it's flaws. There are probably a thousand things that could be improved, but the same could be said about any other game or material product for that matter. Asking stupid questions like "can I get a refund?' is not going to achieve anything other than show how ungrateful you are for all of the free updates you have received since you bought the game. When Notch was leading the Minecraft team, people hated on him. When Jeb took over, people hated on him too. Now that Dinnerbone is playing a bigger role, people hate on him too. The only reason for this is people assume that they could do a better job. Or they assume that the time could have been used in another area.
Majority of us love any addition to the game. Not everything in the game needs to have a defined purpose. Most of us are not selfish enough to expect the game to cater for our personal tastes. If you don't like any of the new additions, they have released this thing called a new launcher that lets you choose which version of the game you want to play, Try it. Stop your whining and get over yourself. The game is great and you know it. If you disagree, then move along and play something else.
I love Minecraft, no matter what they add to the game it stays awesome. I can't think of any addition that has ruined the game for me. Sure there are some things that were added that have no use to my particular play style, but I am happy with the knowledge that millions of other people will be able to use them.

The game is expanding into something new, yes, but these features are nice to many, many fans of the game. Don't like these changes? Well lucky you, they have added the new 'Time Machine' feature into the launcher. Go hang out in Alpha/Beta and enjoy all the bugs and missing features. I have played since Beta 1.2, and I love these new features.
Why do we have to do such large version hops? 1.6.2 all the way to 1.7? Why can't this go up to 1.6.3/4/5 or something?
I believe the reason behind that is the fact that the initial version is the update itself and the extra bit (.3/4/5/etc.) is reserved for the bugfix updates for that update, in case any problems occur after official release.
I am excited for all these new features. The one thing I do hate though is the fact that when future additions are featured on the forums it exploits a massive quantum error thus multiplying the haters.
