*FACEPALM* TERRAIN UPDATE. Extreme Hills updates, snow at mountain heights in cold Biomes, Redwood Forests and a rocky Biome, along with possibly randomized Biome characteristics and other things we know nothing about... New flowers are just a cute little touch... and I'm not opposed to them at all. It's not like they're going to be a full update. The Flower Update? lol. Also, The F3 HUD is there for debugging, and not part of the real game experience at all.
Everyone stop being little 5 year olds over nothing... It's only a game and if you don't like the new things they're adding to the game then there's a new option to play in almost EVERY version of the game. If you want the game to be exactly as you want it than you can make your own game. And also for you guys that say "They worked for 2-3 months and came up with sunflowers!?" You do know that they didn't work all that time right? And if you guys that think you can make an entire version of Minecraft in only a few days good for you. Just stop crying about it and just play the game...
This, is what I mean.
Horses?
No use. You need a saddle = You have to find a dungeon or a village, too boring to go find one.
Hay bale block?
Feed horses.
Actual use?

What I want from a Minecraft update, is new tool tiers, new biomes, lot of new mobs, but every single mob gets it's own update..?

This update will be interesting because it will make the game look more better, because of the biomes, what look nice, and new flowers, I love them! But things are lacking... People beg and beg for more mobs, tool tiers, and biomes, well, we are getting biomes now, but not mobs or new tools. THOSE are what people want. THOSE are what Mojang wont add.
I like the idea of impact particles but the sunflowers, I dunno.
Maybe I'll get used to it, but it looks... so weird. :/
It looks like someone grabbed a sunflower from another game, pixellated it and placed it in Minecraft. It doesn't seem to fit.

They have planned SO MANY cool features, like Red Dragon, Pandas, but when will we get them? We willn't.
Their only focusing on some FLOWERS, instead of FINALLY making the MOBS. Minecraft is SO empty, NO nature animals, except bats. With nature I mean ambience and all that. Their just planning to add sunflowers. Nice thing, ok.... BUT THEY FACE EAST! The point? There isn't. Just click F3, Ta-da, it'll show wheres east, north and all that. Seriously, do we need this? No. Do we need falling particles? NO. Do we need more blocks and tons of mobs? YES Minecraft is SO BORIN that I don't even play it now. And their doing the work SO SLOW! Animations, all just so bad. Minecraft modders, make GIANT THINGS in 48 hours, what do Jeb and Mojang do in 2 months?

Few things, such as horses. So Mojang means that EVERY mob their going to add, will have it's own update! If their going to add a WORM mob, a tiny pixel, and coded in 2 minutes or 1, or even 30 seconds, they do a whole update for it.
Dear Jeb/Mojang, please, read this post, and start TRYING to make the game, instead of just playing it. I have seen their office videos, what does Jeb do? He isn't even on his table/computer. HE'S PLAYING PINBALL! START MAKING THE GAME, SO PEOPLE WOULD LIKE IT, INSTEAD OF DESTROYING THE GAME EVERY DAY!
Oh, and PS... NOT a surprise, that Minecraft sale has slowed down. People wont buy it anymore, because it's ruined. When Minecraft first appeared, it got like 10 million sales, in a short time. Now, about a year have been, and we have now 11,5 million sales. Why? You know why. Or X360 version. Why it got 4 million sales in a month, and then it stopped? Because that they noticed 4J is WAY too lazy to update it, and published it as a BETA, instead of the FULL version, and 1 update takes about 4 months.
Seriously, Mojang, 4J, man up and start the work. Or I'm quitting Minecraft...

Because their adding SUNFLOWERS???? Instead of those majestic dragons and flying creatures flying around. People want Minecraft to be mystic, and cool, what we got?

Please keep adding these things to the game so this guy will quit (although I doubt he'd stick to his word on the matter, considering he bothered to come complain on the forums). He's a shining example of everything that's wrong with the MC community at large. Every single thing added to the game doesn't need to be exponentially more awesome than the thing that came before it. Else, by the time Minecraft 1.9.1 rolls around, people will be complaining that their teleporting, fire-breathing, magic-shielded, armored, gilded, sorcerous Ether-Dragon summonable mount didn't get the ability to barrel roll.

maye they will add sunflowers as a decoration(and directional aid) and have you craft the seeds like melon and you can cook them to get roasted sunflower seeds
maybe the sunflower, if you smelt the flower, you would get sunflower oil to power basic tech things like Steam Engines, and if you put a sunflower in a crafting bench you get

I don't know about the rest of you folks, but honestly i think that adding new asthetics isn't all that bad, it will be a nice touch to the game. Also though i think that there should be crafting recipes for horse saddles and armor, the idea for horses has been in the making for a while and there are many mods that add them. Honestly what mojang is doing is taking popular mods and adding them to minecraft, and personally i don't have a problem with it so long as its well done, and it fits with the minecraft theme of simplicity and more on the medieval (if thats what you call it) end of things.
I see lots of people talking about how they don't like the direction that Minecraft is going.
Plenty have said that the adding of horses was unnecessary, and many have said the same about these sunflowers.
But the important thing to note is that it is equally unnecessary for YOU (The Players) to use these new additions.
There are no tasks that REQUIRE you to use horses, much like there are no tasks that REQUIRE you to use Redstone, Hoppers, Dispensers.
I'll admit that I was a little bit annoyed when the Ender Dragon was added; Not at the adding of the Dragon itself - I was thrilled at being able to fight a Dragon that would be a worthy challenge for my meticulously crafted set of Diamond Armour - but at the hoops I had jump through first.
I JUST WANT TO FIGHT THE F'IN DRAGON.
I am not annoyed at Mojang for adding new features to the game - but I will start to get annoyed if I am FORCED to use those new features in order to access something later down the line. (That would be an RPG and not the SANDBOX game we all know and love)

Dinnerbone also gave us a brief look into an upcoming feature which will help with immersion - impact particles! Basically, if you fall more than a certain distance, then you will generate particles from the impact of whatever block you land on. Sweet!

I find it funny that some people complain that the game is being ruined and ask for something and then when it gets added they say that is was an awful addition. Guys, come on! Minecraft is an amazing game! Be happy for the FREE updates! People complaining about the terrain will be happy to know that there are at least 3 new biomes coming in 1.7! Sunflowers are good for asthetics and particles are good for immersion! Be thankful

As for the sunflower? I don't really see a major use for it, but they haven't revealed all of it's uses yet. Just because I don't care for the update, doesn't mean I immediately object to it.
This is... uh. Well, I can't complain. It'll be a nice plant to have for outside decor! Though that'll be hampered if it only faces east. So I really have to wonder what the point is. Has anyone ever been playing Minecraft and been utterly stumped as to which direction is which? If so, how is finding and planting the sunflower any easier than finding or realizing the Sun and Moon sets in the east?
It's a pretty useless thing honestly. Hopefully it's more a sign of more plant life coming.
