I can't see how Sunflowers are a bad feature at all anyways. It's a small feature that probably took no more than a couple of work hours to complete. The biome changes and new biomes take significantly longer.
Mojang focuses only on adding useless content and fixing some small bugs. Will there ever be a PluginAPI? I don't think so. They involved the Bukkit Team one and a half year ago, and there is no progress.

Stop hating on Jeb and Dinnerbone for adding sunflowers. You don't even have to use them. Nobody hated on Notch like this. I am certain if Notch was on minecraft, he would have added these things as well. As for the horses, they aren't that bad really. If you don't want any of that stuff in your game just switch back to an earlier update using the new launcher that Jeb made. You people have no excuse to hate now.

They're also adding something like continents as well, right? Where they put the biomes that seem to "work" together near each other and leave no room for anything else? Sigh... I'll miss having taigas next to deserts... I pity future generations of Minecraftians.

What? Horses are good, useful for travelling.
The stupid thing is that a full update were made for a mob.
Horses took a lot of work, they're one of the most complex, feature packed mobs we have, be greatful for that. Don't continue to be butthurt that 1.6 wasn't the mob update, because 1.7 is turning out to be a biome/mob update. And once again, they ARE NOT focusing on flowers, they're focusing on biomes and mobs, they're just putting in some smaller features too.

A lot of people with slower graphics cards turn particles off, also you will likely not see them if you're the one falling. So not so interesting.
The sunfowers need another use besides pointing east and looking pretty. I assume the seeds can be used to breed chickens like the pumpkin and watermelon can.

1.6 has upped my FPS by a TON. Previously I would only get 100 fps without optifine then 900 ffs with optifine, now I get 400-600 fps without it. So it's good in that way and the new additions mean more to do for survival servers like my semi-vanilla server.
They confirmed that other tiers such as emerald and obsidian would not be added, you could use the resource pack system to reskin your diamond ores/tools/armor/everything into emerald stuff and have it be named Emerald *blank*
I'll just install emerald tools and armor mod. :3

I don't understand why people hate a simple sunflower... this just makes the world nicer, adds color and it's just a decoration. The sunflower just make part of the background, it doesn't affect the game itself, its just to make the world more "decorated" I guess. I think that the particle animation is quite good and also, makes part of minecraftia without any harm to the game. I'm happy about this update and don't have any complain about it. People just argue and complain to have something to do. I don't remember very many complaints when melons were introduced, and look at how much that feature has affected our gameplay....about as much as the sunflower will. I am all for new updates; if they seriously affect my gameplay that's great, if they don't, then I still love them for how aesthetically pleasing they are. I'm not much of a miner or a fighter in this game- I like to play in town roleplay servers and I love to farm and sunflowers will only help the game. Someone who buys the game after 1.7 is introduced is not gonna look at the sunflower the first time they play and be like...."those do not belong here." But yes, thanks to the developers for constantly adding fun features and keeping us on our toes!

I don't know, maybe in 1.7 you can go sky diving and you'll take more damage but fall faster?
