I oficioally clame the words stock and market. if any one uses them they hafto add 12$US to the national debt. OR I SUE YOU. My team of washington lawyers will then bog down the processes indefenatilly costing billions of $$ to add to the debt so. COME ON PEOPLE just pay down. Or is it up. OH YA I clame the words down and up same aplys exept there is a tax involved with up.
Whats odd is everyone comments here and I'm guessing they are watching this as well which would mean they just got a full email of hate mail just from these comments. Either way they have no rights to the word. Scroll(s) was made long before they was born, the fact they are suing Mojang I'm guessing is more of their "five mins of fame" deal, which only fame they will get by this act which is to me and others just plain stupid, "oh I remember them didnt they have a b**** fit over a word?" Granted I'm guessing they feel threaten by Mojang becoming popular fast and by a wide range of players across the world.
But really you think that even so you can only play one game so much its not like they are being completely ignored. Doing this act as such is only going to turn consumers away from them. Although in theory only 5 in 25 people will turn away from them completely turning their backs to the company itself. And any legal ground they have on the word shouldn't hold up in court as its not copyright. Even so as said before as long as the word in question isn't being used to confuse their consumers even if it was copyright protected there are loop holes which allows the use of that word. Every contract unless of course your dealing with a person who can predict the future has loop holes.
Aside from all that this suing business is just a bunch of bull and a waste of consumer's money as well as a waste in time.

First things first I want to establish that I am a Bethesda fanboy but really ... this is ridiculous. They may own the rights to "The Elder Scrolls" but they cant own the rights to just "Scrolls". I would understand if their game was called "The Scrolls" then someone may get confused but I doubt that would even confuse someone that knows even the slightest bit about games ... I think all their recent success has gone to their head and they are going the way of EA, which would be a very bad thing ... if they go through with this they will lose a very loyal customer no matter how good their games may be I would lose all respect for them and would have to refuse buying another game that comes from Bethesda. Trying to hurt an indie dev like that is complete (excuse the language but) ********. Come on Bethesda be the bigger man and step down before you make a lot of people really mad.
Wow. are these guys that retarded? these guys are going to lose money fast because they dont have a case because they cannot trademark the word "scrolls".
To be honest, I think Bethesda is just scared of a competition, Minecraft has sold like 2 million copies. Within what? Less than a year? Bethesda KNOWS Minecraft is going to be a better game, so they're attacking us while Notch is weak. Bethesda, GROW UP.
Really im not suprised by this. Alot of people (including myself) just say Scrolls instead of saying The Elder Scrolls, and it is used among Bethesda themselves for what I know. so saying "oh ya I got the new Scrolls game" when Mojangs Scrolls is released may cause confusion to some people. Im not saying Bethesda will win. Im saying that Scrolls is a commonly used term for TES and can cause confusion among some gamers.
From a purely people relations stand point, I feel as though Bethesda is making a bad move with this lawsuit. If they actually follow through with threats to sue over anything as flimsy as this, not only will it fail utterly, but it will most likely turn the 3 million people playing Minecraft against them. That's 3 million possible consumers they'll no longer be able to effectively market towards...
3 million copies of a game, 6 if we're talking two games, 9, etc, etc... If they only make 3 more games and they only gain a profit of a dollar per copy sold. That's 9 million dollars of profit lost. Clearly these are very low figures and the actual loses could be much higher if they make more games or if the profit per copy sold is higher...
Err, as a follow up, I should also mention that this could also be a GREAT chance for Microsoft to increase their relations with consumers. They have already voiced an interest in Minecraft and made a deal to put it on their console, Xbox 360. Or in other words, if Bethesda somehow manages to bully Minecraft, Microsoft could actually go all big brother and put them back in their place. It really shouldn't come to this, but it is a possibility, however remote.

If you do something prickish like sue over the rights to a name that you don't already own, you should get the backlash for it.
