Does it matters? Mojang IS a small company, but just imagine: 3 MILLION players mailing, annoyning, canceling the purchase of bethesda's games...
Its a lot of money they're going to waste! And it isnt only money waste, its pressure if they lose respect of 3M players
Their income will decrease! Exemple: I bought myself almost all my games because a youtuber made tests and lets plays
Abaut them, and this gammer is a FANATIC minecraft player, if he decides stop recording Bethesda games, i'll never know abaut them
So I'll never buy'em
And I have to say: The Elder Scrolls series dont appear in google if you just search for scrolls
So there is no way they own the word
**** OFF, BETHESDA NO ONE OWN A WORD SO BE CAREFULL OR I'LL SHOVE UP A CREEPER IN YOUR ASS
It's not like anyone Actually refers to "The Elder Scrolls" games with that title... it's Always which iteration has been released: Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim. I work in gaming retail and absolutely NONE of the customers call it "the new Elder Scrolls game," in fact when I use that title they look at me dumbfounded as though I've spoken another language, until i say Oblivion or Skyrim.
Bethesda is getting big-headed... too bad they stuck their head up their ass first.
God people are stupid, Bethesda isn't suing Mojang, Zenimax is, Zenimax is the mother company of Bethesda and they don't reflect each other's decisions. Also, a legal notice is notsuing, and it was a bad idea for Notch to immediately call it suing. The people saying they're going to boycott Bethesda aren't helping either, even if everybody who bought a copy of Minecraft boycotted Bethesda it would barely effect them. I for one am going to enjoy both Skyrim and Minecraft come November. Maybe people should stop being babies about something that they don't understand.
THIS WEEK ON STUPID LAWSUITS: Bethseda: owner of the word scrolls? mojang is threatened to be sued if they use the word scrolls in an upoming game title. 3,025,520 people rage about the unfairity. the full story tonight at 8:00 p.m. eastern us time. COME BACK NEXT WEEK FOR BETHSEDA THREATENING ANOTHER COMPANY THAT IS MAKING A GAME CALLED THE ELDERLY!
As for the whole issue with the word of "scrolls", Zenimax seems to be taking it a bit over the top. One being that the word that isn't trademarked to anyone in particular; suing or not. And I'm quite curious to know how the use of the word "scrolls" in Minecraft would cause it to be confused with their game(s).
Also, judging from the small article that Notch put up, Although the company hasn't technically sued yet, they seemed to have implied that they were going to if Minecraft "didn't comply".
o.0 Either way, being anal about the use of the word is like Donald Trump trying to coin in (again) on the phrase "You're Fired!" (imho).
<.< Also, to the boycotting. Even though it may be a small amount of people, one would be surprised about how much of an impact it can still be able to have. Not that I personally would end up being in it (since I haven't heard of this skyrim game up until reading this thread).
i mean seriously bethesda your suing mojang for the word "Scrolls"
i have a little advice GET OVER IT lots of other games have scrolls in it to
so put on your big boy panties and get over it
Good lord bethesda, and i thought more of them. Notch, just point out that having a game called scrolls would in no way conflict with the elder scrolls becuase no one (that i know at leas) ever referers to an TES games as "The Elder Scrolls IV: oblivion" or "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim", we know there apart of the elderscrolls game but every one redfers to each game by it's specific subtitle, like simply Oblivion or Skyrim. There just being silly, pretty much all gamers know of the elderscrolls games by there game names, not the series name, not that we don't know that there from a series.
Doesn't anyone read the article? The people that are developing the Elder Scrolls games (Bethesda Game Studios) has nothing to do with this lawsuit. It's the publishers (Bethesda Softworks) that are suing/planning to sue. Everyone saying they're going to boycott Skyrim is just punishing the developers for something they did not do and have no control over.
Both bethesda gamestudio and softworks are parts of the company we call bethesda
So boycotting the games of bethesda gamestudio we generate pressure (both in gamestudio and sftwork)
So if they (bethesda lawyers) dont stop sueing mojang both bethesda gmestudio and sftworks wont recive money
Thats why they boycott, actualy im not going to stop buying their games, its just an explaination
This is like if we dont buy from the gamestudio the softwork wont get money and then will allow notch use that fcking word
