Everybody calm down! We are making too big a deal over this. It's promising that this won't last long especially when we see how notch and Todd Howard got along in the interview video. Hopefully everything will be settled without much loss. Who knows why Bethesda did it but they have been a good company, and I think will continue to be. We can't scold anyone because this is how the world of business works. Life isn't fair. Deal with it. I wish notch and Bethesda good luck, and maybe we'll see a skyrim minecraft bundle on November 11 like Todd Howard joked about. ;D
The only reason they're doing this most retarted stunt is because they know Minecraft produces alot of money. They just wanna get some of that cash because greed has gotten to them.
this is just rediculus!!!. i cant beleave that some people are dumb enough to think that THEY own a simple word!!!
mojang should sue them for being a waste of time!!! just... wow....
If The Asylum can get away with making crappy low budget knockoffs of summer block busters such as Transmorphers, The Day the Earth Stopped, Almighty Thor, Battle of Los Angeles, Sunday School Musical... I think Mojang is in the clear.
RikeuAmeva: You are an idiot. and useing the same "troll" ******** god damnit that is old everyone that sais that deserves a stake through the heart.
And no the fact that this was made public and put on the front page was very childish and MORONIC, trying to get there fans wriled up so they can stroke mojangs penis for a couple days and bash an ACTUAL GOOd. company
I honestly find it funny how you're bashing Mojang and you bought the game. What the hell is wrong with you? That's like buying a ****ing mansion and saying it looks like **** compared to the little trailer across the street.
This is almost as much an overreaction on Bethesda's part as, say, boycotting Skyrim because of this.
Anyways, yeah I call BS on the lawsuit over a single-word working title which not a single person has ever ACTUALLY confused with the series, but if I were Notch I'd rather change the title than try to get in a legal battle with big multi-national corporations.
Unless of course it's already written at hundreds or thousands of places within the source code, it's not like Bethesda has a leg to stand on anyways.
I think the letter was just to scare Mojang into not using Scrolls for the working title, because some lawyer doesn't like Minecraft. If there's one intelligent lawyer at Bethseda, then they won't sue just for using a word in a working title...
you can own a word or "title" or "part of a title" i that genre so the name suit is legit..
BUT its a game in development... not released there for its a working title... they have no grounds.. secondly... "elder scrolls" would be the copyrighted name.... i dont believe you can copy right the whole and part of a name..
thirdly...
Elder Scrolls ****ing sucks... they have what 10% audience ?
really? and thats gonna diminish cus the hard core mine craftians will no longer play elder scrolls
You people are insane if you think Minecraft has a bigger audience than the Elder Scrolls, or that even a fraction of Mojang's audience will boycott Skyrim over it.
Bethesda will have to sue browser-companies for calling the thing on the right a "scrollbar", people might confuse it for a pub where you talk about Skyrim!

Ah, yes, but did Blizzard try to sue Minecraft? No, they didn't, because theres freaking millions of games with "craft" in the name. Speak sense, boy.
That's a nice forum you got there.... It'd be a shame if something happened to it....

...I hope.
I got it.
I'll make a shitty flash animation that has nothing to do with scrolls, I'll name it "Scrolls" and then I'll send it to the company.
Lets see if I get sued.
