Elder Scrolls is best known today for their game Oblivion. Skyrim is the sequel to that.
So does this mean that GSC can sue Bethesda for using the word Oblivion since the original title of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl was Oblivion Lost?
Finally a civilized commentator that knows what they are talking about. Let's not forget that a lawsuit hasn't even been filed yet. Just a letter, asking them to stop.
How does the word "Scrolls" bear any resemblance to Elder Scrolls?! I haven't heard anyone, EVER, say "I was playing Scrolls yesterday," or "I got to X Level in Scrolls today," referencing Elder Scrolls. Come on Bethesda. That's just sad. You have to have a Jedi lawyer or some crap to win this lawsuit. Diamonds to Notch, but Creepers to Bethesda.
so what i owe bethesda 25 cents everytime I say the word scroll? I mean the scrolls mojang is making isn't even related from what I know, if it was an rpg that takes place on a far off island called sorrowwind they would have a point, but really?
There is no suing going on. No lawsuit has been filed. The lawyers are just worried that there might be some confusion in the market. Markus Persson said himself that he is working on a compromise. Like calling it "Scrolls: the lost pig". I encourage everyone to just stifle their anger, threats, and vulgar words and just wait it out and see what happens.
Another setback for Notch and fellow creators. It's as if the world is out to stop him doing well. Should call up FPS Russia and get him to have a few stern words with Bethesda. I'm sure they'll 'have nice day'
What A Bunch Of Fags, Those Idiots Do NOT Own The Word Scrolls, Nobody Does!!!!
Also, This Is Just Stupid, And Childish! They Are Just Trying To Make Money, Those Idiots!
They Should Not Sue, Because They Are Fighting Over A Friggin Word! Does It Really Matter! =\

P.S. The name BS doesn't only stand for "Bethesda Softworks"... it also stands for "Bull$#!++ers" incorporated.
Oh and besides, they're only suing Notch cause they need money so they can finally try to make a decent game and maybe even try to sue him out of the rights for Minecraft so that they can make a $#!++y copy of it and publish it. U mad Bull$#!++ers Inc?
Well... you could just use the Freedom of Speech act and just shut the whole lawsuit down... how i speak or write should not effect others..
If it 'were' plagiarism, that would be a different story, but Mojang and its employees, Notch and everyone else...just put the word "Scroll" in a "upcoming project" and its a cause for being sued???!!!
This is just sheer stupidity on the part of 'whomever' within Bethesda allowed this to go this far....
Come on guys...I like games like Oblivion, can't wait for Skyrim, love Minecraft in all its glory, and you have to be jealous and quarrel over a single word...
<sarcasim> Might as well sue the dictionary companies too while your at it you greedy jealous asses

I still think they should quote this: <copied from Wikipedia>
Freedom of speech is the freedom to speak freely without censorship. The term freedom of expression is sometimes used synonymously, but includes any act of seeking, receiving and imparting information or ideas, regardless of the medium used. In practice, the right to freedom of speech is not absolute in any country and the right is commonly subject to limitations, such as on libel, slander, obscenity, incitement to commit a crime, etc.
The right to freedom of expression is recognized as a human right under Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and recognized in international human rights law in the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR). Article 19 of the ICCPR states that "[e]veryone shall have the right to hold opinions without interference" and "[e]veryone shall have the right to freedom of expression; this right shall include freedom to seek, receive and impart information and ideas of all kinds, regardless of frontiers, either orally, in writing or in print, in the form of art, or through any other media of his choice". Article 19 goes on to say that the exercise of these rights carries "special duties and responsibilities" and may "therefore be subject to certain restrictions" when necessary "[f]or respect of the rights or reputation of others" or "[f]or the protection of national security or of public order (ordre public), or of public health or morals".[1][2]

So in this case they first make the lawsuit, complain, and now are going to try to claim rights to a word???
Still stupidity, regardless of the fact that they are negotiating
