When I think of these games, I don't think of "Elder Scrolls," I think "Oblivion" and "Skyrim." I didn't get into the series before then, so I don't really know anything about the previous games. That said, Oblivion wasn't good, and now that I've heard this, I'm not going to bother with Skyrim. I'll just play D3 when it comes out, some WoW when I need a more typical RPG fix, and Minecraft whenever I feel like digging or building stuff. I may or may not look at scrolls. I'd have to wait until it's out of EARLY DEVELOPMENT before considering whether or not I'll give it a try.
Seriously, I don't have very high regard for Bethesda, and they are now officially on my "toilet" list after this.
FIRST OF ALL I'm PISSED AT BETHESDA FOR EVEN DOING THAT IMEAN SERIOUSLY GUYS YOU ARE SUEING MOJANG FOR A COMMONLY USED WORD PLUS THERE IS PLENTY OF OTHER GAMES THAT USE scrolls SO BETHESDA LET THERE BE CREEPERS
There is no way they can sue him. It's a sad attempt to try and stop a game that is getting attention from big companies like sony. I mean lets see sony is launching minecraft on the psp right? i dont keep up with all this stuff. and elder scrolls? what the heck is that my first time even hearing that game. Must not be all that.
This is a low punch trying to make him stop something that well will throw elder scrolls in the trash. That's what happens in the big leagues. If one companie sees there about to get spanked by something another compnay is doing they try stupid retarded attempts like this.
Good luck with there law suit. All they want to do is drain mojangs pockets in court fees and stuff to try and stop what there doing in development. Want to stop a small company from getting off the ground drain there wallet in court so they have to stop development.
Notch counter sue there aws for a big fee to help do what you planned on doing.
Mojang list it as a working title. From what I've seen of most game development cycles, this could change several times, and Bethesda could be left holding the bag of a very expensive lawsuit that should never have seen the light of day.
I don't even know why Bethesda went after it in the working title stage, they could've at least waited until there was some more solid release date.
Mojang should really ignore this pathetic attempt of Bethesda's at garnering money or respect from them and Bethesda should crawl back under whatever rock they came out from underneath.
It really wouldn't surprise me at all to learn that the actual release title never even mentions the word scrolls anywhere at all and that Bethesda will get laughed out of court for something they haven't even begun to think through properly.
I think i love minecraft and all of its creators to say that, if Mojang takes a lose from this, I won't buy skyrim. It will probably be too buggy to play the first week anyway...

i agree they will probly drain all the development funds for minecraft and any other game comming out, but knowing the minecraft community, a lot of people will probably donate to keep it going. i know i would if it needed it.
Its probably an automatic type of thing i don't think its actually bethesda who sent the 15 pages so i doubt he will get sued but if he does minecraft might go to hell with all of the money loss....

it takes an original company to create an 8 bit - 16bit i dont know exactly game in a advanced graphics era where you can build your own place from the enviroment and have the guts to risk having a random world generator it isnt about the company cod boy its about the players thats what makes them different they sit back and think hmmm what the players want other than hmmm how much money can i make of these people. so go back to hell saurus92 oh and one last thing let there be creepers and this is you
Xander117, I am afraid that is not how it works, the way it works is you can not commercially sell/promote your game if it has most or all of the words in it with out their permissions. Sometimes even 1 word can not be used, like Madden in the EA football game. No one can use the word Madden in their game without permission from EA. Now, if you want my opinion about this (and it really hurts to pick a side cause I am a big fan of Elder scrolls and Fallout and am also a big fan of minecraft) I think that it is pretty stupid, cause 90% of people stopped calling it Elder scrolls after the 3rd one, Morrowind, and just call it by its sur-name, Oblivion, Skyrim, etc... but Betheseda has every rights to do so, and the main reason they would sue is that it would effect sales. Say someone is searching on google Elder Scrolls. On probably the first page will also be notch's game (past all the blogs, reviews, sellers, and the site) so lets say the person skips over the Betheseda website, and finds notch's game scrolls, they will see that and say, hmm this looks really good, and buy it instead, so that is 1 lost customer for Betheseda, now obviously big fans will just search skyrim, or just click on their bookmarks and find the one to the Betheseda site. Its effects would be marginal. But what I said before is actually probably going to happen more on the reverse side, people that searched scrolls would actually 6 times out of 10 have Elder Scrolls pop up first. Everyone sues these days just to try to get money. But its meaningless, Notch will change the name (everyone always does unless they have billions of dollars) to just something VERY VERY similar, like scrols or Scroll or Scroll's. All of them differ from Scrolls so Betheseda can not sue, well they of course COULD sue but they would lose 100% of the time.
