i was just reading the link that craterlord commented and it says and this is copied straight from it "To be clear: Bethesda the developer is not pursuing this, it's the company who owns Bethesda." so stop blaming bethesda, even though i did before i read this and start blaming the company that owns bethesda, zenimax media which started this whole thing and also how would someone get confused with the titles?
Bethesda...By your own logic you should get sued. Why? They have a game called "Rage", but in 1991 Sega made a game series called "Streets of Rage." Hypocrites? Nope! Justmoney gurbers.
Hmm... if we make a game called Scrolls but has no actual similarity of gameplay with Elder Scroll, it's like saying you can name Pepsi Coke because they taste alike...

OOOOOO arent you big and bad? :laugh.gif:
I highly doubt they care if 1 person changes their mind. I do think its stupid to change it over this, when Its not Bethesda Game Studios doing it. They make the game, they dont publish it which is BethSoft & Zenimax (and the actual ones doing this)
"Notch said that their office received a 15-page cease-and-desist letter..."
Hey, that's a show]! NBC is suing you!
Wait, that's the name of a song! Train is suing you!
Stop! That's already an acronym! The National Association of Medical Examiners is suing you!
Come on Bethesda. Get the stick out of your ass and deal with the fact that some of the very same nouns that you use can and will be used by other people. If you must sue Mojang for using the same NOUN, Scrolls, as you did, then you should also follow up with the City of Las Vegas about stealing your name. I just lost so much respect for you, Bethesda.
You flame war starters and vulgar mouthed trolls are obviously missing the point here. They're not sueing Mojang for use of the word, they just don't want them to use it to avoid confusion between the two. Imagine this:
Gamer 1 "Hey, I was playing SCROLLS last night and finally got the fire scroll. That does craaaazy stuff!"
Gamer 2 "Oh, hey I love that game!" (Goes home to google fire scroll in skyrim)
I would be confused too. And personally, I never really liked the name Scrolls anyway.
So apparently they think it's illegal to use ONE word? Dragon Age might as well sue every other game with the word "Dragon" or "Age" in it's title then. Great Logic there bethesda.
Nobody says "The Elder Scrolls." They say Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim. Quite honestly if they're going to ***** over something stupid like the word "scrolls" I can just skip on number 5 till it's on sale by Steam.
The problem being the article itself clearly states that Bethesda is suing Mojang. The first time it was mentioned, they merely said that a letter was sent saying they would be sued but according to the article, they are actually in the midst of a lawsuit.
Although the article doesn't mention this, the title states it. Maybe your news correspondent needs to get his **** together, but don't be barking at us for believing what the article says.
Sue me now, Bethesda.
