eh probably some lawyer thinks he has a case but they own the phrase "The Elder Scrolls" not the Word Scrolls also i dont think you can copyright the name of something or trademark it. you might as well trademark/copyright the word The get some money also why do people keep referring to bethesda as a she.....its a gaming company. lol

After reading Notch's blog, it seems it has more to do with greedy lawyers than the company itself(that and personal experience with lawyers). I'd say Notch is doing fine in keeping a level head and not butting heads with other people over something as ridiculous as a title.
*sighs* I bet lots of other games have used the word scrolls but now the reason they are suing because Bethesda needs more money. If only large companies had heard of the word common sense. Just stop and think hey why are we suing some small time company but Noooooooo big companies need to be stupid and sue all the little guys to support themselves. Ok, this is just crazy. Is this company out of there mind? Bethesda can't sue every game that has to do with "scrolls" just because they are making a game about it. I have seen many older games beore them using the word "scrolls" in the title. What are they gonna do? Sue those people too? These guys are ridiculous for trying to sue Minecraft just because of this. They can't sue everyone who uses the word "scroll/scrolls" in the games just because of theirs. It isn't fair...

IIRC in America corporations are treated like individuals in many instances now, thanks to some coc--- err some lobbyist controlled politicians.
Thus to anthropomorphize a company isnt terribly out of line. Aside from that note, it tends to simplify things when conversing about a group or object. I could also go into gender identity of nouns, such as in German iirc something like say a sweater would be refered to as 'she' after the initial mentioning of 'sweater'. Americans tend to use a gender neutral when referencing nonliving things or objects that don't resemble something with a set gender.
Probably more information than you wanted, and my apologies if it was hard to follow, I sometimes flounder when trying to articulate things into easily digestible format.

Late 2011- Official Mojang vs. Bethesda trial. Mojang loses due to Bethesda's lawyers' twisting the truth and propaganda. Mojang loses and Bethesda wins the rights to Mojang and Minecraft. Immediately afterwards, half the community quits.
Mid 2012- Due to the decrease in players, Bethesda desperately adds stupid updates to Minecraft.
Late 2012- Almost everyone has quit Minecraft. Bethesda pulls the plug and quits developing.
By 2013 Minecraft is officially dead.
