Geezuz christ people. Welcome to the world of trademark infringement. One of two things happens.
Notch pays for the rights to use the word "Scrolls" as the title. Bethesda getssome cash.
Notch changes the name of the game to something else. Given that it hasn't even come out yet, this isn't a big deal!
While Notch's fanboys can defend him all they want, it won't help him do any better. Bethesda is massive, and could probably easily crush Notch in any legal event. Notch deserves it.
Thats like suing over the word War. Its in alot of games Like COD World at War, God of war, Gears of War. How can you claim rights in video games of a word!
Thats bull crap. Dont get me wrong bethesda is a great game company but come on!
Go read up on some trademark law people. This happens when any name is similar, any logo is similar, or any other trademarked name/item/logo/picture/thing is similar to someone elses application for a trademark.
It's not a big deal. It happens ALL the time. The media just loves going" ZOMG THIS COMPANY IS BIG AND EVIL AND SUING SOMEONE" when in reality it's just making sure they defend their trademark (Which if they don't, basically becomes null and void).
So if you make a fruit and veg store, and the logo is an apple and an orange, called "Apples and oranges" then expect a letter from Steve Jobs. IT HAPPENS. It means Sweet-f-a
My point is, if you are referring to my latest post, is that I want evidence from the people who said there are countless other games with "scrolls" in the title.
I see how Bethesda could be mad, but one word games have always had issues. "The Elder Scrolls" is at least unique, but "Scrolls" really isn't, and I don't think Notch really needed it to be copyrighted to be able to publish it :sad.gif:
MrBaggins is quite right . Its more an indication of Mojangs success than a spiteful attack on a rival . Minecraft has hit 3 million sales while still in BETA development something that a Bethesda game has yet to do . They are simply setting some ground rules with the new giant on the block .
It disgusts me when companies think they can own a word like that. Same thing with zynga for hopping over anyone who uses ville in their name. There's a town nearby called streetsville. This sueing over use of names has gone to fraggin far.

That's ridiculous and pathetic! He's only doing it because he's jealous of the new-found popularity of MineCraft! Maybe he should of thought of making a GOOD game!
Screw You bethesda!
You CANT OWN A WORD YOU DIDNT MAKE DUMBASSES SO GO TO HELL BETHESDA

Curse PremiumPraise be to Spode.
Besides, one word won't mix up the elder scrolls series, most people just call them by their name after it (Oblivion, Daggerfall, Etc.)
Call Of Duty
Call of Juarez
where is the suing here?
