I too thought overpriced but after price comparing.. $35 bucks gets you a couple sets around 350-400 blocks, with one set up at 452 and a couple down near 200. My son loves Legos but I want these for me!
Edit-Ugh.. I was looking at the original set. Will have to see how many blocks these new ones have.
35 bucks, worth it so I can throw a ghast on the floor and step on it barefooted and scream like a ghast.
Because legos hurt like unable to be defined here hurt when stepped on barefooted.
(My nieces have ensured i know the pain of stepping on a lego block since walk barefooted anyway.)
Poor jokes aside.
More merchandise for those crazy collectors. Or pyromaniacs that like burning things and everything that displeases them, example like Ashens on YouTube just because they can.
As well that pig-man has some major issues, somebody got their dye hues wrong.
I'd get the set for the ghasts then swing my sword at them hoping they'll drop some tears...
1. Bloody hell that's too expensive.
2. The scale is way too small (there's no visible blocks, so hardly minecraft)
3. The zombie looks awful.
4. Not enough unique parts. Other than the tiny mob faces which are useless for anything other than as mob faces, it's just normal bricks.

For goodness sake you morons! You all clearly have no knowledge of the limiting economic factors that actually affect the outcome of Lego!
Lego is made of plastic. Plastic is made from oil. OIL IS NOT BLOODY CHEAP. So of course it's going to be somewhat expensive!
Of the 400+ bricks actually in these sets you somehow think that it's going to an absolutely great idea to texture each individual 5x5mm tile - Oh yes, that's definitely going to drop prices! ¬_¬
"URRGH ItS tEr SmUrL!!!1!one!11!!!" - Of course it's bloody small! Any bigger and you QUADRUPLE the price of the set! Yes, you heard correct - Quadruple. A 2x2 brick is 4 times the size of a 1x1 brick.
Lego are never ever going to sink a metric f***tonne of money into manufacturing tiny scale tools and creepers just because you don't happen to like it!
Whether you like it or not Lego are going to continue these sets like they are now as the design and style are increasingly popular among Lego collectors.
Lego is NOT losing money due to this, so for all you people like "ermergherd lego iz soo guna lers murneh cuz urv tis" - No, Lego isn't. Lego is never going to lose money because they are not doing anything to lose money, they are not investing in massive term loans. Lego is actually gaining profit because of this despite what lies you manage to conjure up and seduce people with.
So before anyone even thinks about criticizing the new sets just bloody think about what you are about to say before posting something totally cringe-worthy.

There are a few things you may or may not know about Britain: 1)Britain is a country. 2) Britain is called Britain. 5) Britain.
Oh, for crying out loud, we're really not that dumb. Trust me, all of us on here who care about this have bought LEGOs before. We're aware it's not some cheap knock-off garbage, they use high-quality plastic, etc., etc., but we've also bought enough of the things to know sets that are twice this size cost about the same amount. It's just marketing logic here. Something with 'Minecraft' on it makes worth twice as much as what they would have sold the sets for without the little Minecraft, well, faces.
Also, I've flipped shovel textures for Tinker's Construct and ExtraTiC for a more realistic-looking animation, check here: http://www.minecraft...hovel-textures/
Would they really? I don't think LEGO is different from other big companies out there. All they want is your money. Small pieces of plastic probably made in china do not cost a lot to make you know.
I've actually found the Lego Minecraft sets to be very disappointing. Why the tiny scale? I want minifigs that can actually hold pickaxes and wear diamond armor.

JEEZ! $35 for something that little? I've seen sets much bigger for much less.
Maybe if you rescale the sets into bigger sizes, drop the price down buy at least $5 and use actual minifigures I would probably buy it.

I don't think you're quite understanding. If we were to use the average LEGO price per part ratio, which is 10 cents per piece, then these sets would be $50. Instead, the Minecraft sets use a much lower price/part ratio of 7 cents per part, which reduces the cost to $35. The sets may be small, but the details, such as using 1x1s to represent each individual block, drive the part count, and price, up. You're getting a great deal for your money, no matter the size.
Also, when fans were voting for Minecraft to become a LEGO set on LEGO Cuusoo, the average price fans would pay for such a set was $30. The set was then designed to fit as much in as possible without having to go too far beyond that price.
Double Spokes are 22p, let's call ones with a hole in an exaggerated 40p for the sake of argument.
+ DoubleSpokeHole x2 @40p = £4.83
Let's call a quad spoke 80p again just for the sake of argument
+ QuadSpoke x1 @80p = £5.63
Fourers are 13p, let's call one with a hole 30p
+ Holed x6 @30p = £7.43
+ Flat 6x8 x1 @38p = £7.81
+ Minifig x2 @83p = £9.47
+ Pickaxe x1 @40p high on blricklink = £9.87
+ New paint schemes for bricks, let's say double to super exaggerate, call it £20
FOR A MUCH BETTER SET, Steve and Zombie as minifigs, with a pickaxe, grass, dirt, stone and coal blocks, reconfigurable on a base, and a tree also made of blocks!

Well $50 for a foam pickaxe.
Why is it more expensive then the game itself?
