What's with that huge packed ice "tower"?

I found this when exploring in an Ice Plains biome looking for RedWood.

This may have been mentioned but I'm too lazy to read all 18 pages.

I was walking around in the Mega Tiaga, with the podzol and mossy cobblestone, and I randomly heard banging like a zombie invading a village, I looked around; no doors. I kept hearing the sounds, so I listened and dug around, but I found nothing. Also I heard the walk-on-dirt sounds and skeleton-walking sounds. Scary part is that I'm on peaceful. D:

EDIT: I'm just flying around now, and even in mountain biomes, I hear zombles. Is this a bug?

There's landing impact. When you fall from a distance, particles from the block you land on fly out from underneath you.

Is this legit, or are you using a texture pack?

I haven't seen this mentioned but sugar cane color is now related to the biome you plant it on. So go to a biome border and stick a couple in the ground. Plains are like a medium green, swamps are darker green, etc. Just a small cosmetic change but I wonder what else is effected by this!!

EDIT: it is there in vanilla but it is easier to discern using resource packs (I'm using minecraft enhanced atm)

So far, I've only seen a few of the new features, including but not limited to a new biome, new flowers, and more fish. It's looking AMAZING. Although I wasn't able to see ALL of the features so far, here's the seed I used: 346915771959203136
I'd rather not spoil anything, so go check it out yourself! Oh, and make sure your in creative, because it's easier to see all the new features!
