I can confirm that horses still despawn randomly. I just lost a horse that was 1. Tethered to a post, 2. Saddled, and 3. Inside a closed room. It vanished with the saddle and the tether when I loaded the game. And I was in the house at the time.
(In regard to a mod that gives realistic animal genetics):
Would you really rather have bees that make diamonds and oil with magical genetic blocks?
... did I really ask that?

You need to have an external download site for the jars so i can download the jars my self cause the launcher sucks and doesn't have any any snap shots or 1.6.2 pre. I am getting sick of this new launcher bs so fix it of give me my money back!!!!!!
I hate to say it, but as of 1.6.2, I've still got horses, cows, villagers, chickens, pigs, and sheep going through fences.
My horses are teleporting through solid-block walls.
I even had a horse and a baby villager fall through wood and dirt blocks.
My baby horses are still taking damage and dying from growing up near blocks.
That was taken during pre-release, however I've confirmed (and have more video) of the horses teleporting and dying. If wanted, I'll try to get some video tonight of the rest of the farm animals and the villagers escaping fences. I didn't have my avatar sleep or travel and I didn't log out and back in for the chunks to reload. Given enough time, mobs can simply push through.
I love this game, but fences, walls, and floors not serving their purposes is game-breaking for me. :/ Please, no more new stuff til the major bugs are fixed! It's like getting a new seat cover for a car that can't run. I mean, it's nice, but it's useless.
Basically, there are several causes of this issue, as well as a general pathfinding bug of "mobs pathfind from their north-west corner to plan their moves, but movement uses a different set of rules". All related to issues with bounding boxes, adult/child discrepancies, resolution errors on chunk loading, etc.
Mojang closed this as "fixed" but testing and decompiling shows the same bug still present, so while one cause may have been fixed, others are still there.

I need a bukkit build that supports 1.6.2... stupid auto-update
My server has been dead all day because of this crap. And even if I revert to 1.6.1 i still want everyone else who hasn't figured out how to revert to be able to play just bc their client autoupdated.
Edit: The wiki states a new feature has been added where zombies and zombie pigmen can spawn as babies. Interesting....
Yes I heard one before I saw it and thought WTF is that sound? I did not know that they had added mobs spawned as infants. I did kill it as I still do not know if it damages you. It came after me though.
Lovely, another update. I might as well wait till next moth before I try to play this game with the number of mods I run. I'll admit, I like the idea of bug fixes, but every update takes a week out of my play at least, because all my worlds will loose a ton of stuff if I load them.
Yeah, I wish somehow you could update while using mods

NB: Bug got "reopened" today.
I can confirm this too. Solid blocks seem better but my cows won't stay in fences. I don't even have them jammed in very tight either to try and prevent this. I also have a rare but occasional mob suck through 1 block floors.

Curse PremiumOh, bleep, serious?
Losing our cats and dogs wasn't bad enough?
No hurry or point to update then.

Well this only affects horses as far as I know, so you can still update and just avoid getting a horse if you want.
It may be a lead-exclusive bug as I have yet to lose a horse that was not tied to a lead. This could be purely coincidental, however.
Also, they fixed fences. So far, I have not lost an animal that was completely enclosed in fencing on all sides.
Just report the bug at Mojira here.

Happy Digging
Comic Sans is the best
