The wiki says he was originally hired with the rest of the Bukkit team to work on the Plugin API and to maintain Mojang's servers, but then he was made a general developer along with the rest of the Bukkit "recruits," like Dinnerbone.
It's pretty much just credit to the devs. Grum is on this project, herobrine is working on another game right now. Not the easiest to google but its out there.
Newbie here, what does pre-release mean? Can some people get it or does everyone have to wait until July 1st to get the update?
Anyone can get pre-releases. This is the first one that uses the new launcher, which you can download in the Main Post. It is released mainly for modders to update their mods. But anyone can get and play it!
The new minecraft launcher doesn't work for me so i guess no minecraft 1.6 for me.
Get the one from Mojang.com, not this post, then in the launcher go to the "profile" tab, right click and click "new profile" Name it and select the version you want, then select it in the (I think it's called scroll down) and select that profile, then it will download it and launch the game!
The "new bug" part should be in bold, underline, with flashing effects and a "look at me" sign.
Seriously, almost a half of the bug reports in the bug tracker are duplicates, when not people report the same bug 5 or 10 times. This makes developers' life harder and more relevant bugs might get missed. Please, be nice and make a search before reporting. ;-)

I think the Download Links are incorrect - they point to a MinecraftDev.exe - which launching that just makes you go to https://mojang.com/2...-6-pre-release/ to download another Minecraft.exe
Wtf.. so now when we regen health our hunger bar drops the amount we heal? What the f*ck? So now we need double the food when we have starved or are in caves/fighting mobs. That isn't fun at all, I guess I'm going to not update or wait for a mod that gets rid of that. F*ck this.

I had a similar problem, and I tried exactly what you said, but my Minecraft still crashed. I know I already posted this, but is there anyone who could help me? (Just FYI, I'm using a Mac OSX version 10.5.8.)

When i try the launcher, the 'play' button on the bottom isn't highlighted and i cant click it >.>
