Even if it is good, even if the guy who made it is friends with the people at Mojang, even if it is inspired by Minecraft, it is not Minecraft related, thus should not be in the Minecraft News sub-section of the Minecraft Discussion of the Minecraft Forums. Other games go in the Other Games Sub-section of the Off-Topic Section.

My impression was that this post was simply announcing that Curse had made a new wiki for Cube World. Since Curse also created the Minecraft wiki and these very forums, doesn't this make it kind of on topic? To be honest, even if it isn't on-topic, I don't really mind: I'm really impressed by Cube World, and plan on getting it as soon as I can!
People have associated every Voxel based game to be a spin-off or rip-off of Minecraft... Took a 10 second glance at this game and saw it was hardly like Minecraft. Youtube has been mobbed with Cube World. Bdouble100, Nerd3, ect.
Don't forget InTheLittleWood. His LP of Cube World was what really got me interested in it!

Cube World is such an unoriginal and boring name. They didn't think hard enough or not at all?
During the early development of Cube World, the devs were talking about renaming the game (Cube World was just the project name). He even made a poll what name is better, but never went for it.
Here's a first selection of possible names that I liked. It's not the final list, and I'll probably post another one soon. I'd just like to know what kind of names are well received and which ones are not.

I think it's time to choose a new name for Cube World.
I'm not a native English speaker so it's hard for me to judge if a name sounds good in English or not. So I would appreciate any name suggestions. Please try to consider the following things:
- The name must not be copyrighted or trademarked.
- It should not contain the word 'Voxel', 'Cube', or 'Craft' EDIT: Also no 'Block' or ^3 please.
- I think it's good to have a combination of English words without fantasy words.
- It should sound like an epic action RPG from the 16-bit era.

If their goal is to stop people from buying the game, they may be successful in the short term. However, the fact that it's being attacked just makes it even more interesting. What could be so amazing about it that someone wants to sabotage their sales? Now I want to buy it even more.
I think people will wait to buy it and in the long run they'll have helped them more than hurt them.

I wonder why Sonic isn't really as popular as it was in the early 2000's. Maybe it was and Sonic 06 that ruined the series' reputation. Well, it one of the most WORST games I've ever played.

We're "whining" because this is the Minecraft forums. Not the Cube World forums. If I came on this forum and started talking about Bioshock or something, I would be hated on for it.Just because this other game is made by one innocent person, this is no acception.

People saying its a minecraft rip off are just retard because its like saying Guild Wars 2 is a rip off of World Of Warcraft ...but anyway World Of Warcraft did ''copy'' ever quest and I can go back again ...
Cube Wolrd is only using the same Voxel world as Minecraft ... its an RPG and Minecraft is not .

I agree on both accounts. I do hope they move this thread, intact, to the off topic section after a while. And I love both Cube World and Minecraft, for different reasons, just like I also love Timber and Stone and am looking forward to Seed of Andromeda.
Sorta wondering why this thread is here, the only ways it relates to Minecraft is that Minecraft was an inspiration for it and that the developer very nearly (aka did not) join Mojang.
Regardless, though, any haters on the game just for it "being a mineclone" or something are kind of silly. Regarding game aspects, they're pretty much polar opposites in terms of quality. Minecraft has an excellent building aspect and an excellent electricity aspect, but has awful combat and exploration aspects and negligible difficulty. Conversely, Cubeworld has (or will be getting) a bad (though livable) building aspect and has no electricity aspect (nor anything hinting it will be getting one) but is quite good regarding combat and exploration (balancing still needs to be done, though since it's an alpha). I suppose Minecraft is intended to be more well rounded but regarding the quality of the aspects in the game I just end up treating it like a building game and shy away from nearly everything else in the game. I'll probably end up caring less about Cubeworld's building aspects as well. Either way, they're very different so calling Cubeworld a mineclone is like calling a red apple a green apple.
Just throwing that out there. Not like it needed to be.
