Doubt any of the people in this thread even understand why there was a lawsuit, Mojang wanted to claim the name scrolls in which the paper work said that any adverts/games and other stuff that included the name scrolls meant that Mojang could have the right to sue them, so don't hate on Bethsada, they only did it in defence.
They can't apply for a trademark on any games etc that 'include' the word 'scrolls' unless they made the word up. They can do strings of words, such as Bethesda did 'The Elder Scrolls' and 'Elder Scrolls'. Even if this was in defence, Bethesda's case in general is impossible as Mojang already offered to change the entire name of 'Scrolls' to something else. They don't really have a leg to stand on.

In THIS topic. Idiots who don't understand how patent laws work and think Bethesda was trying to be spiteful. They kind of had to defend, or at least that's what their lawyers gave them, as it is possible they could loose domain due to the similarities. Also in this topic, PEOPLE THINKING IT WAS BETHESDA. Seriously people, learn to read.
I like besthesda but you have to be stupid to believe this game being named scrolls would make people confused with their game when no one calls their games elder scrolls. It's always been called with the names like "dagger fall", "morrowind", "oblivion", "Skyrim". Nevertheless, congrats mojang
I'd reiterate what the small handful of people that actually seem to have something higher than a middle school education said, but no one's listening to it anyway, so instead I'm going to say this:
I am happy that Mojang won and this is over (Bethesda and Mojang are my favorite devs). But you guys are so goddamn ignorant it's just ridiculous. At least you "boycotters" have a reason to no longer boycott Skyrim, so maybe this worked out for the best.
Lots of TL;DR in here today. Guess if the word counts too high, people ignore it. I'd reiterate points, but there'd be no point (ha!). It is a good sign for Mojang's law team, sure. But from what I saw of their copyright/trademark application, they were trying to take a rather far-reaching grip of the word "scrolls". I still love Mojang, but that I can see why ZENIMAX's lawyers jumped on it. And as much as I love Notch...there are times when I have to wonder if he isn't trolling to rile folks up. Then again, it IS the Internet.
TL;DR (for those of you who detest reading) - Congratulations so far, Mojang. Just remember this wonderful phrase from our friends at Bungie.net - "Keep It Clean".

Yeah... To Scrolls: [Something]
And Notch admitted to never considering another name for it: http://twitter.com/notch/status/126200754804494336
They did, however, offer to change the name completely as well. Bethesda turned them down.
I have no idea what you mean, and I doubt I'm alone.
