As for "added sounds for villagers": WHYYYY?!?!?! This deletes the usefulness of all those Undetectable Proximity Detectors that are used in *every minecraft adventure map ever*!!! Now we have to go through and change *all* of them to bloody Snow Golems, shooting Snowballs left and right...
urrrgh.
This snapshot does more harm than good, in my books at least!!
There are more ways than one to make a proximity sensor... ever hear of the /testfor command with Command Blocks?
Lol, I don't think they'll ruin any maps because if a map maker doesn't want villager sounds, they'll be able to remove them with resource packs (The successor of texture packs)
The villager sounds are a bit strange, but I know I'll eventually get used to them.
EDIT: Sorry, this was supposed to be an extension to my above post.
I personally don't like the new villager sound. But, if there has to be sound, I would have a different sound, and have it only happen when a villager is in a conversation with another villager or the player.
Yes: Mobs. Plural. Emphasis mine.
We are currently in a "home run" of debug updates, which is not proof that horses will be the only mob in 1.6, but still a really good hint that it is.
Donkeys and mules being just 2 slightly different variations from the horse, which itself comes in 35 "flavors", personally I don't really see those 2 as really a new, separate mob from the horses. And for the 35 horse flavors, now that is definitely a single mob for sure, in the same way that when they added grey, light gray and black sheep in version pre-release 1.2, they added variety to the sheep mob, not "3 new mobs".
So all of that is all well and good, but it also all boils down to *_one_* mob. Maybe "one and a half", if you insist on counting the donkeys/mules as a mob type that is a bit separate from "true" horses. One and a half *_is_* plural, so yeah this *_is_* strictly the bare minimum that is sufficient to say "mobs" instead of "mob".
Still, that kind of tweet kinda created misplaced hope, right?
If Jeb had used the singular mob instead of the plural mobs in his tweet, then everybody would have been quite pleasantly surprised by the sheer and spectacular variety of the new mob. Instead, he created the expectations of seeing, say, 3 totally new and different mobs. It's like if I say that I'm gonna give you some cookies, you have a hard time thinking that you'll get only one and a half, or even a single pair. What most people will have a tendency to more easily imagine is that they'll actually get several cookies. 3, at the very least. And it is exactly that kind of expectation that kind of reduced a bit the impact of the excellence of the new mob.

Bug report(idk if it's only me) : I opened minecraft like in "minimize screen". I went on my server(I was on a horse) and when I was trying to go fullscreen it only like made the sky but the view wouldn't get bigger anyway...
One thing that could be really funny for the villager sounds is if they sounded like Sethbling's villagers in his videos, with deep, unintelligent voices!
I can already tell this "villager sound" is going to get anoying...
try having 5+ villagers next to each other... it only gets worse as more villagers are added to an area. I believe their "Talk" timer is to short, so they spam with their chit chat.
If they only talked upon opening trade or when villagers interact with golems and other villagers, THEN it would not be so bad. However that way it is currently...... I rather build my house in the middle of my farm (Cows, pigs, chickens, sheep. 10+ of each animal) then having my house in a middle of a village. The sound pollution is just horrid.
Horses and villagers also have sounds, and there is now a sound effect when you equip a horse with a saddle or armor as well as when you remove those.
The villager sounds are just creepy...
EDIT: To be honest, the villager sounds will probably ruin a lot of maps.
Yeah. I made a Nazi Zombies map. The zombies come towards the building because of the villagers under it. And now, it'll be weird because you'll hear a lot of talking.
There should be a bugfix snapshot, 13w22b, and it fixes this bug:
MC-____: Villager noises are annoying and cause a headache (fixed by Mojang making villagers make noises at least less frequently).
2 months to add 1 mob (with the help of the Mo' Creatures author) and three blocks (hay block, hardened clay and colored clay)? I know a lot of mod authors that can make that in a couple of days.
Well, they have been fixing bugs, but for the most part, i agree :/
Especially because it's the whole office, not just one dev.
They honestly could do much more.
ASIDE from that, I honestly thought the actual 1.6 update was coming out today x) that is what everyone made it sound like. I was really disappointed to find it was just a snapshot.
Oh my gosh, the villager noises... they went from looking like squidward, to sounding like him.
I like the villager noises, but i hope they add more variant to it. It gets annoying after the 5000th "Hrrmmmm".
