I still believe they've added those for the sake of popularity of those animal.
Meanwhile they've made pig ride-able. Not so convinient though.
They've also said there won't be horses.
Now they say they are adding horse. (Very clear with photo and mention of mob mod author)

I don't hate at all the horses in real world. I don't want to even see them in minecraft.
Many wouldn't recognize but horses are one of icon of war. Which is far from minecraft theme.
And also unlike redstone, they roam and will be treated as living animal. There presence is more
large and defines land scape in various locations.
What happened to mojang? Why they've dropped original feel? Adding horse is surely a one step
down.
Umm no, not really. Have you heard of Mo' Creatures? Dr. Zhark has ropes to take them with you and whips that keep them right where you left them. And you are going kind of up and down in this comment.. you obviously don't like horses, so you don't have to. Some people do, okay? .-.
Horses sound like a really good idea in my opinion. As long as they make them easier to control than pigs then I think it'll be a useful feature. It would be nice to be able to get around your world faster without having to build a minecart track or link nether portals.
Ok i know a lot about the 1.6 horse addition. Dr.Zhark the creator of the mo creatures mod is helping jeb and the staff make the horses. The horses will look very similar to the ones from the mod in case any of you were wondering about what they would look like.
If Horses will be added to Minecraft, which seems like a really cool idea, I think you should use the model for horses that some mods use, not the one that was previewed in Minecraft 2.0. The one in the 2.0 thing looked somewhat unrealistic, and the models that a lot of mods added looked very nice and actually like horses.
Explain please. There are currently 6 people working on Minecraft, if I remember correctly: Jeb, Dinnerbone and DrZhark create new content, Grum and EvilSeph help with the mod API and C418 makes music and sounds. I would call this pretty independent.
I was referring to the popularity aspect. Before, Minecraft was popular but not on the level it is now. I remember when they had around ninety thousand sales. Now it is among the most popular games on the market spreading across all genres. Indie games usually don't get this popular.

"Indie" doesn't mean "Unpopular," and a lot of indie groups would be very sad that you equate them so. "Indie" means "not affiliated with a major studio" and Mojang is definitely that.

They just like the series, they aren't going to end the world by watching it. What does that even have to do with anything? If they like horses, let them. I love horses, are you going to call me a "bronie"? Or are you going to except that i like an animal? Same with "bronies", are you saying that becuase they like a show, that they will make the game horrible? This is Minecraft we are talking about.
