sigh...people need to learn run minecraft woth more memory, or Mojang should just add it in the launcher, to be honest i wish mojang would talk more about what there doing, for your sake, it just buggs me to see people getting all mad about stuff that they have no clue about, see a mod developer can add tons of stuff because it doesnt need offical minecraft communities approval im no java mage but i know enough of java that more than half of mods are just recycling code and adding new textures, not saying thats bad or they're bad its just that its alot of copy, paste, edit, extend class, like ore mods? thats just extending the block class, adding the properities of stone sound and making a custom drop, but i can say, perhaps have more than one pre-realeases, i mean look at 1.8 (im still a 1.7.3 supporter though) it had many, many, many prerealeses, and not many updates after it came out. I can say i liked how the game was going with Notch in lead, but Jeb is ok in my (writtable) books, just maybe some guidance? But still, one of the best things is that he said they would try to get the mod api, thats better then never, and if im right the bukkit teams been doing a fantstic job on minecraft, look at sethblings channel, most of the stuff he does wouldnt be possible with out dinnerbone (bukkit memeber) so please, just kinda nudge them in the right direction. Ps i have a invincable shear? pps fix improve the terrain
If the cake is a lie........ does that mean if i build a house out of cake my house isn't real?
Your sense of style is pathetic , I always look to java programers for style , because where ever they are , they always have .class.

You know, not all of us know how to allocate more memory to Minecraft, and to be perfectly honest? We shouldn't HAVE to. The average computer should be capable of running Minecraft and that usually isn't the case.
For instance, I've got a Dell Inspiron laptop. Intel Core i5 processor (2.30 GHz). 6.00 GB RAM. Windows 7. All that jazz.
I should be able to run Minecraft perfectly fine, but on minimum video settings (distance set at tiny, too), I would lag.
As of 1.5.1, I'm actually incredibly surprised to see that I get roughly 90-100 FPS at those settings because I've never gotten that many in the history of owning Minecraft. On the default settings, however, I get 5-15 FPS. Maximum. Without mobs. STANDING STILL.
I bring them down a little? Gets a little better. 20-ish FPS.
There shouldn't be that much of a difference. :|
I haven't seen anyone complain about anything other than the FPS and the artifacts between blocks and those are probably the biggest problems Minecraft has at the moment. People have a right to complain about them.
The day they final optimize the game properly is the day I stop complaining.
Wow I am really amazed. The new performance is awesome, I can finally play on Far render distance with Fancy graphics on a suitable framerate, no lag. 60 fps again. Mojang, you are excellent!

Surprisingly on my Macbook Pro mid 2010 with 4GB and Nvidia 320m integrated I get around 50-70 fps on the highest settings.
i need to transmit my minecraft files to another computer what do i do step through step please.
anyone know how i can get minecraft to another compiuter because i am getting a better computer for minecraft.
on windows: - to copy the launcher: right click on the shortcut and click "open file location" then copy and paste "minecraft.exe" to wherever you want it on the new computer. -- to copy your saves: 1) open minecraft and click "options-> texture packs-> open texture pack folder" then click on ".minecraft" in the address bar and copy "saves" to the ".minecraft" folder on the new computer using the same method to find that folder. I hope this helps
Yeaa another free update. Can't wait to update my servers again. All three of them
