I'm LOVING those screenshots, with the exception of the giant brown mushrooms; Their cap looks pretty flat, and as such they look strange. I'm hoping they will make the cap have more layers. Also, those textures for some reason look really ****in' good. Looks like someone's using a Texture Pack. I'm sure that with a texture pack this will look even better, but to me it looks like playing with regular Minecraft textures won't be all that terrible anymore.
Also, I'm pretty certain that the NPCs will be pigmen. Notch stated, according to the Wiki, that Pigmen WILL be implemented in the future. After a while, he decided that instead of randomly wandering about, they will come in the form of NPC villages.
I also would love to have some kind of a 'civilization system' with stuff like Pigman farmers, Pigman miners, Pigman warriors, Pigman heroes\ adventurers with Golden swords(Zombie Pigmen in their lives :P), and some kind of Pigman Chief\Lord\King, ruling over a single village.

The shrooms looks a bit silly, but I love the village, stone bricks and the gate

Finally! Soon I can play evil bandit and steal, rape, kill, terrorise, and grief the nice little villages!

For now, the first screenshot does not attract me at all. The cobblestone/mossy cobblestone houses are ugly, and the Giant Mushrooms are an outrage. The second screenshot however is neat. I like it.

I just found shears in the game. Two pieces of iron in a diagonal.

This looks like its going to be an update worth waiting for. But i just hope that the mushrooms look better in person. And the dungeon generation looks like its going to be very good and mold with the surrounding land well.

The huge mushrooms I think will be mined similarly to trees. You mine the support blocks and they give you a certain amount of mushrooms and the type will depend on which mushroom you mine.

If you zoom in on the gate, you see some brown spots(rust) rather clearly. This proves the theory that it is, in fact, a GATE, and not a cobweb.

Cool I hope notch keep adding stuff and horses and birds so that we can have a faster explorations and I hope he dosen't stop adding stuff in minecraft cause he will finish it :\

I hate the giant mushrooms, love the ruins, and I am going to break all of the village houses to get mossy.

@Skulltastik: They look more like Glass doors to me, but I've wanted those for a while anyways. Good catch! This does look awesome, particularly because I can get out my C-4 TNT and blow those suckers to dust.

Wow, that looks amazing! Can't wait for 1.8.

I hope the houses contain some sort of valuable we could loot or NPCs we can somehow interact with. Otherwise, having random houses in the middle of nowhere might turn into an annoyance and wouldn't bring much incentive to explore after the first few encounters. If they do contain valuables then 1.8 would be my pillage and plunder update

I'm not a big fan on how the giant mushrooms look as of now but I trust in Notch. If it does have some sort of cool function to it then I might be willing to overlook its ugliness though.

What really intrigues me is the second picture. Notice how some bricks are clean, some have moss on them and others are cracked? Does this mean we get 3 new variety of bricks to play with?

Overall 100/10. Can't wait for 1.8!

New Dungeons! And the NPC villages! This is goinna make minecraft that much better.

Oh cool, the village looks pretty nice. I was afraid they'd come out like regular rectangular buildings. But they got angles and varying block textures (wood-cobble+moss-glass).

Though looks like something where I will find myself building roads in.

I like the ruins but... A village? I play singleplayer by the loneliness you can feel, but now it's not going to be the same
