It seems that (In the Tweet) Notch was giving them a kind of relation to the Far Lands (Whether this be an in-game bonus to the famous terrain generation cluster-****, or a name/story relation). I don't like the idea of changing the name of the Far Lands to "The End," and I'm sure it won't catch on if it happens (I am aware that the Far Lands aren't there to serve a purpose, and that it's mainly a name given by the community.).
Why don't we just call them Enders? Why call them Ender-Men" if they bear more resemblance a brainwashed Frankenstein monster than a sentient being?
Plus, "Ender" just sound pretty kick-ass.
Edit: I'm just interested to see how it comes out. I'm not really that into it, but I'm leaning toward Far-Landers just because I want to see the myths, fan art, videos, Minecraft "Movies", mods, etc. that come out featuring an actual relation between them and the Far Lands. Community explosion, so to say.
Farlander is by far (please excuse the pun) the better choice. because "the far lands" are an existing (and very mysterious) region that is incredibly hard to get to.

People who picked it probably are picky and greedy and don't enjoy the game.
LEAVE Enderman THE WAY IT IS
but if the petition shows a strong community preference for "farlander" than Notch may reconsider
you're argument sounds suspiciously similar to semantics.
