These bear a STRONG resemblance to the Slendermen and is probably the inspiration for it. With that said Endermen makes WAAAY more sense. That and Farlanders isn't scary, sounds like some reject Borderlands gang.

Enderman...because if there called FarLanders, then that means they should only be in the Far Lands. Also, does anyone have the link to the original photo? I looked on Notch and Jebs twitter, and google+ but none of em posted this picture. I'd love to see the original and not the brightened one. ^^
Endermen sounds better but, it seems that it would be better suited for a mob in the Nether rather than on the surface. Maybe if a different version or style of this mob appeared in the Nether, then Endermen would be a perfect name for it. But on the surface it should have a different name and Farlander works for me.
"Farlanders approaching from the east sire!" shouts the stevian.
"Fire the cannons." replies the king.
A monumental BOOM shakes the castle as alarms ring throughout, signaling the drawbridges to be raised...
As the sun sets behind the Farlandian army, the sky blackens for a moment...As TNT rains down upon the Farlanders, a separate boom comes from the west side of the castle!
" Hold them off!" Shouts the Master of Arms to his defense force.
A huge explosion had rended the lava moat surrounding the castle to drain, voiding the use of a drawbridge and causing a TNT cannon to backfire, starting a chain reaction!
With water raining down on the defenders and explosions racking the castle, the Stevians fell back through the escape tunnel, archers covering their retreat...
I prefer Farlander over Endermen. For one thing, it sounds more original than Endermen and quite honestly, I wouldn't want something to be named in reference of something for the sake of a quick reference or gimmick. I like the Slenderman myth as much as the next guy, but honestly, besides the fact they they're really skinny, theyreallydon'tlooklikehim. The fact that it follows you around when you aren't looking is kinda also a misnomer, because otherwise this would just as qualify.
As far as rolling off the tongue is concerned, both really are catchy within themselves, probably because both names have the same amount of syllables. (Far-Land-er and End-er-man).
The name Farlander gives them the implication that they come from somewhere distance and inhuman, providing a bit more depth for people who want to, I dunno, write about them or talk about them and stuff. The name Enderman anyone can recognize in an instant, but it'll forever be treated as just a small reference to an already established fictional mythology instead of something deeper. Like for example: "oh hey dude look at that enderman over there" "ohey man he looks like slenderman" "cool lets kill it" Versus "oh hey man look over there its a farlander" "oh **** man that thing looks fierce" "okay cool lets go kill it".
It's safe to say that no matter what you call it, people are going to want to fight this thing, and people will very much go and **** their pants when they face it. I personally believe that Farlander adds a bit more mystery instead of Enderman, though. But forever in my heart, my personal nickname for this thing is Good Ol' White Eyes.
I don't care what the name turns out to be, I'll refer to them as both. I do like the name Farlanders though, it just seems like this would be a mob that is relatively unknown, that has migrated from the Far Lands. Endermen sounds a little wierd to me, just isn't my cup of tea. Maybe Embermen because they look like charred bodies.

I think Endermen should be called Farlanders and as a suggestion, they should not be able to spawn within 64 blocks of the coordinates 0, 0.

Farlander sounds better IMHO!
