It's going to be the "Adventure Update" or something similar to that, says Notch.
My hopes are so high. People have gone to amazing lengths to make awesome 'adventure maps'. Some official love will be great.
I'm hoping they let us;
- use our own sound files for records (at least the 15, but hopefully unlimited)
- make better furniture
- have wool half blocks, and vertical half blocks (portal block shape for example)
- more lighting options
- let us toggle between a 'build' vs 'play' mode maybe
- more things we can 'write on' or paintings
- turn off creepers! (but leave on non-exploding mobs, or just turn off block-damage of creeper explosions)
Basically... Mojang crew should block out a week where they all play through custom adventure maps and make notes on what folks were TRYING to do, but Mojang could help make easier.
Notch mentioned on his blog months ago that he was going to be adding in more underwater content. My bet is on something to do with that.Or, maybe he's making Adventure Mode, where you can't break blocks, and it plays like a traditional RPG. Who knows. Maybe both.
adventure mode sounds like it would be fun just hope it don't take away anything from the game the way it is now. I don't really like rpg's and the way it is now is just fine for me to play
I wish Notch would spend a bit more time before he updates. I know people get impatient, but he might as well not release it if it introduces tons of bugs and beta holes and stuff. Nether was cool, maps are cool though.
So especially since Notch is releasing an entire new game mode, I would expect him to at least spend 2 months(while he's on vacation too)
And also, he never confirmed pistons, webs, or sky dimension in 1.7, and it likely won't come considering the new mode will take quite a bit. You can just get the piston mod.
I assume if there is a new Adventure Mode then it'll be like AdventureCraft. People saying 'don't remove removing/placing blocks'.. He's obviously keeping that in, it would just be a game mode. Optional.
More likely though, I'm hoping it'll just add more to Survival mode, with items to make the game more... Adventurelike. And hopefully, DRAGONS! :biggrin.gif:

Stay Genuine. Stay Fearless.

I agree with you, but doesn't adventure mode sound like puzzle maps?
