Kim Jong Un is in 6th place, Followed by Psy.
Notch still in 2nd place; about 20,000 more votes for him to "outcome" Mohamed Morsi.

I was once an ordinary Steve thinking about rainbows when I was struck by lightning to death, but still, my big thought about rainbows, brought me back to life. Now, living as Death, using the power of rainbows in accordance with life and death
He's pretty dam influential, regardless of whether he did so in a meaningful or significant way or not. Millions of people around the world know of minecraft, and have somehow been affected by it.
I notice a lot of people are going off about how "Notch abandoned his game!" and "Jeb should be on there, not Notch!". Well, while it is true that Minecraft's development was handed over to Jeb, and he has done good things with it, what do you think has really influenced the world more? The game coming into existence, or the updates that followed? If Notch stopped working on Minecraft, and he didn't give the project to anyone else (truly abandoning it), we would probably still have all the features we have in Minecraft today, just with mods. It's the community that makes Minecraft what it is. The community of people who thought a game in which you can collect, build and survive any way you want. Any generation of people would have thought this game was a great idea, but Notch was the first person to perfect it. Start with nothing, work your way up through materials in an Infinite world, hide from monsters in the dark, or attack them. And you can get to the point at which you can flatten mountains, build sky scrapers, or just keep the scenery and enjoy it if you like. It really is a one-of-a-kind game, and it's success is through a community of people who love to create. Even if Minecraft never got past alpha, you can bet that the community would have kept on making maps, mods, texture packs, and even just little fun things like roller coasters for themselves and friends. The updates nowadays are cool, but all that is truly needed to make the game great is the idea, and the community.

Problems found:
A: Game would not exist and community would not either without Mojang, further narrowing reveals it equals to Notch.
B: If communities were on the list, some political party or activist group would get No.1
C: Did you forget Minecraft was updated so it could HANDLE mods and texturepacks?
D:You also forget that the game attracts a lot of haters.
E: Pretty sure some people would still be more famous than the modder equalling the Chuck Norris of fame to Minecraft Communities.
I hope he does well. He sure has changed alot of peoples lives.
Still changing mine and others through youtube and bringing people together, through family friendly gaming!
I Agree, as awesome as I think he is I don't think he's the best.
Edit: no one else was really good on the list IMO so i voted for him.
I was not allowed to finish my post had this been allowed to be posted this would have shown the relevance in the xbox discussion and the lack of relevance here in this thread here
Markus “Notch” Persson 156,694 + 18,694 = 175388 he could have won the fact is I watched it turn down another 2k as it reached the end in other thread I created for two reason 1st not knowing there was another thread here, 2nd the number of unhappy Xbox users in the xbox discussion
Sad fact is the 18,694 were probably dissatisfied people with the Xbox and Handheld ports, I voted yes for what ever reason that dose not mater now it is a mute point, second is only close in horse shoes and hand grenades not awards.
Mohamed Morsi 173,091 220,907 was slow moving in the very end and had far more no ways and when I added the "no ways" up with the "closing count" he won the darn thing putting him in first place
This is truly sad Notch could have won it and taken it home, this is cause and effect simple and straight forward people
Maybe the company can learn from this this and do better, because this should be a massage, this one was sent by the customer base share holders, people who bought and paid for the game.
And once again I am just rambling on here as you would say so just report this irrelevant post again So every one hit the report button now at the bottom of this post for stating the a simple fact.
No. Notch left a bad taste in my mouth after he so quickly dumped minecraft onto jeb after its money making had peaked to go and try and churn out another game.
When I first saw this, I was skeptical over whether or not Notch was actually worthy of this, though a marvelous fellow.
After looking through some of the first suggestions on the list, I quickly became convinced that Notch definitely deserves this honor, more than many others.

The best reply to the above is probably "Shut up, you fool!"
After checking the results after voting closed, he is 2nd to recieve the most yes votes but has less than 10% of the votes voting against him as the guy ahead of him. So if TIMES actually lets the people decide we could see a creeper on the cover of TIMES Mag!!!!
I am Kazuto "Kirito" Kirigaya. I beat the death game, named "Sword Art Online". You can't defeat me, don't even try.
