Time 100 is an annual list of the 100 most influential people in the world, as assembled by the American magazine Time, and this year's list of potentials includes our very own Markus "Notch" Persson! Do you want to see Notch top the list of "most influential person"? Be sure to cast your vote for Notch!
The list was first published in 1999, when Time magazine named the 100 most influential people of the 20th century. Based on the popularity of the installment, in 2004 Time magazine decided to make it an annual issue, listing the 100 people most influencing the world.
Be sure to vote for Notch - as of this writing, he is already in the top 3 of the 100 most influential people, and you can help bring him to the Number 1 spot! Click here to vote!
He's 3rd on the list when I checked, and I think he deserves it. A game that has changed the lives of over 10 million people, that continues to reach almost unheard of milestones across computer, console and handheld gaming deserves to have its creator properly appreciated! If it wasn't for Minecraft a lot of people who play it would not be the same, and I think that is deserving of an honor such as this one.
Yeah...notch is amazing, but there are so many people who deserve it more than him. Most influential person? Nahhh
I think Notch's influence is a different kind of influence than most of the other people on the poll. He didn't TRY to influence anybody, he just made a sandbox game and sold it on the internet. Now, only a few years later, his game has sold over 10 million copies and has a discussion forum chock-filled with people. People from all around the world express interest in Minecraft, and many have found their place as mapmakers/modders/LPers/etc. If you think about it, he HAS influenced millions of people, and though he may not deserve the highest spot, something close would certainly be suitable. Then again, since there are different types of influence, I don't think you can really make a list of the most influential people. After all, a terrorist could be hated all over the world, but that hate would still count as an "influence". Would he deserve the #1 place? I don't think so.
The Meaning of Life, the Universe, and Everything.
Yeah, I thought about not voting for him because you know, it is a great game but it isn't that influential, but then I saw the other contenders. Psy or Michael Phelps definitely don't deserve it as much as Notch.
