Sure is nice of Notch completely ignoring the sizable crowd of us that own a PS3 or Wii. Think about it: the Wii would be the PERFECT console for Minecraft to be released on. You would actually swing your diamond sword at the creepers, swing your pickaxe at the diamond ore, and you would just attach the Wii nunchuck and use that to move around. But seriously, the people that own PS3's and Wii's make up a gigantic crowd, many times bigger than the XBox 360 crowd. So why not for all consoles? Or at least Wii? I have a PS3 (and Wii, but that's beside the point) and I personally think that it would be a great business decision for Notch to market Minecraft on the Wii: A console perfectly fit to play a game where most of the time you're swinging an object at something, not to mention the Wii has a metric ****-ton more people using it.
Sorry for double-post, but... You are wrong. Almost everyone I play with on SMP are Xbox'ers.. A few PS3'ers.. And, well, no one like the Wii..
That's dumb that you can only win the console through the sweepstakes. If I want a Minecraft console, then SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY! I, for one, think that both Microsoft and Mojang would both make much more money selling the Minecraft-themed console in retail than just giving out the one console.
just my $0.02
Yeah DAMN mojang for NOT wanting to be greedy money grubbers!!!

You have not looked into the difference of getting a game into Xbox live arcade versus getting it onto the PSN shop or the wii shop....

That takes a lot of work you know. Each console has a different software structure, and they would have to re-code the game again for each one. They never planned to release it for the Xbox in the first place, so we're lucky to have that.
Also, I would hate using the motion mechanic for Minecraft. How many times per second does Steve swing his pickax again?

Retired StaffDon't worry folks, I'm joking. I mean, duh, it's obviously rendered for display purposes.
On a related note, I'd say that a minecraft-themed xbox seems a bit overkill, but hey, everything that's a thing has its fanatics.

Also, I'd love to enter the sweepstakes, but I'm an Aussie. :/ Oh well...
Mr. Skeleton is displeased with your lack of smilies. Arrows will be shot. Don't say you haven't been warned.

Retired StaffVenit, quessit, induravit.
Must Enjoy
Saw it's only obtainable in sweepstakes PLUS if you live in the US.
My dreams got crushed as quick as they were created.
