Gun(only shoots arrows, sorry i couldnt do more in 2 days :S)
gun being shot
Cogs(used for crafting)
Steam powered sword :biggrin.gif:
Steam Powered pick
Mechanical dog(just like normal dog, exept to train use copper ingots)
Screenshot of the Canis
Lamp(redstone activated)
And a shot of an active lamp
Copper Block(yes you can get your ingots back from it)
And Finally, to top it all of :
INFO in the ground you find copper, copper drops copper chunks. place copper chunks in furnace to get the ingots. and yeah then just look at the recipies above, enjoy! :smile.gif: UPDATE: -Fixed wolf texture on tamed wolfs -Fixed lamp not shutting off -Added Copper block -added Steam powered pick and sword -added achivement
Love the "Canis" - great texture. Haven't had a chance to test it out yet but I think I will tomorrow. That and the redstone activated lamp block have me pretty interested. The steampunk look and feel really comes through well in all of the additions imho.
I don't have time to make a thread tonight. This adds copper and zinc, smelted into blobs then crafted together into brass
There's a full toolset with brass. There is a airship crafted as so:
(BRASSBAR)
There is supposed to be a dimension, but for some reason between MCP didn't reobfuscate right, and screwed it up. If I'm allowed to fix that tommorow, I will. There are also steam cows and steam soldiers.

Bear in mind that I am only 12, and that this is my 1st properly released mod. I may change the rarity down a bit @ some point, and this is definitely only a version 1.0. There will be WAY more content in future. (When I am more familiar with Modloader modding. (requires modloader btw

Alrighty, first version of my SteamPunk mod is completed! Still a few minor issues I'm working through, but I wanted to at least get something up here now that I got everything working. First attempt at a mod so go easy Here goes~
Author(s): shakeandbake (me)
Mod name: SteamPunkRage (just a working title I went with, couldn't think of anything too original)
Images (if any): It seems it makes the most sense to sort of caption these images describing the mod, so I'll do that.
Two new ores, copper and zinc. These have the same abundance as coal, and can be mined with a wood pick. I don't plan on changing either of these facts unless I continue work on the mod after this contest.
Copper and Zinc being smelted into ingot form. Not much to see, just showing for completeness.
The various new items added with this mod, shown with the recipes that make them. The "Steam Tank" and "Steam Engine" icons need changing, though I was too busy working on the Steam tank itself to work on either today unfortunately.
The "Steam Tank" in action! I'm quite pleased with how this ended up, actually. I initially had the blocks dropping their items as well as breaking, but this tended to cause issues from time to time and was a bit annoying while testing so I removed it.
The idea here, is that the "Chopper Wheel" has four blades on the front of the tank which tunnel through blocks directly in front of it. This allows for carefree horizontal travel!
Note: The tank is meant to be used in X/Z movement. There is no way to climb back up with it if it falls down. The tank is also not meant for water travel, and actually drills through water blocks so take care.
The "Steam Tank" model I created in the wonderful Techne tool. This took a bit of work to get in the game, but I think it came out quite nice so I'm happy with it.
The player's perspective with the goggles on.
A "Magnified Torch" placed on a tunnel created using the Steam Tank. These torches are slightly brighter than regular torches, and work underwater due to their glass lens casing.
Download link: http://www.mediafire...p0uirb4g2ze6a89 Requires ModLoader. This is my first mod so I'm not sure if there will be any issues with people getting this working. I repatched my Minecraft to 1.8, deleted META-INF folder in minecraft.jar, added the ModLoader files, and my mod specific files, and it worked fine. Do the same and you should be good to go! Not sure about compatability with other mods etc.
There are some things I didn't have time to change (Icon and recipe updates relating to the Steam Tank mostly - I went with a boat look but did not change the recipe from minecarts to boats. Also I noticed I spelled "Lens" wrong ) , but it was a little tough to get everything wrapped up while learning modding at the same time. I think the features I was able to get in are quite nice. I kept the GearArm weapon I was working on (recipe not pictured, but it is visible in the goggle overlay image) in the mod even though I wouldn't consider it finished (was trying to get the mod to not render the item but instead add a custom right arm skin to the player that resembled the item). All-in-all I'm quite pleased with the progress I was able to make, and I think the mod is quite interesting. I feel as though the tank destroying the blocks rather than harvesting them makes it a little more balanced. I think I may come back to this mod in the future once I have a bit more experience with modding, as I have quite a few ideas I wasn't able to get implemented in time!
Any suggestions/comments would be greatly appreciated. This is my final version of this mod for the contest, I hope everyone who tries it has fun with it!
Ok, WOW.
Our textures for the copper and zinc are virtually the same... but your mod was made before mine... I didn't steal your textures, I promise. But your brass texture is WAY better than mine, and your zinc ingot... So I guess it's obvious i didn't steal them.
But anyway, good job, and good mod!
What update do we need for this? 1.8.1? And can you send me the direct link to download modloader. I think i might download the wrong one. Thank You. And so for what i see i love your mod. Awesome work.

My pick;shakeandbake To me, this one was just the best. I admit, mining Zinc and Copper to make Brass and then making things seems like an unnecessary step, but you can't mine alloy (I think just making things out of copper would have been fine, myself). That aside, though, the mod is great. Recipes make sense, visual style fits, and everything seems useful (excepting goggles, but those are iconic).
As for the others...
tylap566 This one was just strange to me. It seemed to follow a sort of moon logic that, even by Minecraft standards, is a little out there. While clearly steampunk inspired, it wasn't very visually appealing, and I just couldn't follow the sense of why things worked the way they did. In the end, just seemed to be trying too hard in some areas, not enough in others.
slefi I kind of liked this one. I really did. It just seemed to fall a bit short. Visually, it's great. The ideas are creative and iconic. Like with the entry above, though, I often couldn't see the logic that linked Point A to Point B. The recipes seemed to use things a little arbitrarily. Over all, it was actually not so bad, and would have made a fine mod. shakeandbake just did it better. This was definitely my #2 pick though.
paraknight While this one had a lot of potential, and might have easily rated higher, I felt it did a couple things wrong. Mostly, the visual style was a little too modern to pull it off. I realize that the intricacy of steampunk machines can be hard to capture with Minecraft's simple style, but I think the motorcycle could have looked less polished, and maybe shown more obvious signs of steam power (like some big boilers). Requiring water in addition to coal for fuel would have been another plus. Also, while the recipe for the bike was a bit simple, the addition of needing a key seemed needlessly complex.
maciejkiller This one was just...very underwhelming. Visually, it falls flat. Most of the elements are poorly drawn, and...frankly...have uninteresting designs to begin with. Given that a large part of steampunk is aesthetic, this was a bad foot to start out on. The "Clock Block" shares a name with an existing block, and is completely non-functional besides. One wonders why it was included at all. Light bulbs aren't very steampunk, and leaving aside the fact that these were just a block with a drawn-on lamppost, the lamps really should have been gaslights to fit the theme. The "molten" items made no sense at all. Brass items are okay, but it doesn't really fit for them to be better than Diamond. Overall, I think this one was a case of being overeager, and under-prepared.
Final edition out now :smile.gif:

I'm too late!
nooooooo...
Soon. :happy.gif:
Not trying to bash you or anything, but laser blocks? Jump pads? That stuff is so far beyond Victorian-era tech and it's not even themed correctly.
It's actually a very cool mod, I might try it out, but it just doesn't seem steampunk to me.
could you give an installation tutorial minepunk wont work for me?
