Wow.. my brother came into my room saying "there's a new snapshot! There's a new snapshot! :D:D:D:D". You finally released one this year! lol... can't be stuffed looking into it as of yet.
Tried it, and everything is awesome except one thing: The hopper only collects items that land perfectly in its center. If something lands on the edge, it isn't affected. I'm aware of the fact that it's a work in progress, but at the moment it makes them nearly unusable. Even if this is an attempt at some sort of "realism," I'd still rather it work properly.

seeing as the terrain.png files is getting full. Here is a idea.
Change the wool to be colored like the leather armor.
This would allow for more wool colors and use less space in the terrain.png file. Free up 15 spaces.
It's hard to get good contrast with the way that is blended (similar to if not the same as multiplication in image editors) and in a way where you can always get the color you want. That's why basic recoloring is not a good solution as artist have little to no control (especially in vanilla) over how it is done. Most packs you will see, the wools are not only different colors, but also different brightness-es ans contrasts, and the multiply mode cannot reproduce equal results by itself.
However, this is not needed, as they are splitting the terrain.png and items.png into individual images in a future version, I'm surprised it wasn't in this snapshot. So terrain size or space will not be a problem anymore. Hopefully it comes with some speed increases by not loading textures that are not loaded in any chunks.
Dinnerbone released a tool to split up the terrain and items for the artists, so they don't have to do it themselves.

Yes. Trap chests have a slight red ring around where the gray latch is. You have to be looking for it to see it. Random_Guy_32 must be red/green color blind. To people who are red/green color blind, red and green both look like the color of chests. So I've been told.
redstone block.... clocks just became childsplay.
HOPPER... pipes! finally!
Tip with the hopper, when assembling a line of them work backwards from destination to origin
Is posting videos forbidden in the news section? I thought for sure it was okay, but mine got deleted.
Anyway, what I wanted to get across with it was that there are some interesting things you can do now that the redstone block gives us a movable power source. I ran a quick test where I pushed the block around in a circle with pistons powered by the block itself. I've not given it a ton of thought yet, but it seems you could, with (relative) ease, make fairly complex state-based machines with just redstone, pistons, and a few of these blocks.
this is a basics on comparator
input signal strenght (3) can be cancel out from an input on the side with a signal strengh less then the signal strenght of the main input . if a stronger signal is applyed on the side it will not affect the output

I think someone on staff was working on an expanded terrain file at one time. To be able to add tons more blocks and things. Wonder what ever happened to that...
I really would like a block that conducts in all directions. To make a grid of floor pistons reasonable to control. It should be easy, not hard, to control a grid of pistons that all go up at the same time. Simple things should be simple, complex things fun and complex. But having simple things overly complex (the wiring required just to make 5x5 floor pistons go up at the same time) is stupid.
The redstone block does conduct in all directions though.

It doesn't conduct, it's a source. It's pretty much like a redstone torch, but in block form (with those obvious benefits). I don't think it can be inverted like a torch, though, and it doesn't produce light like a redstone torch for some reason....
