Generally the recent updates are quite awesome. Finally proper texture handling, no more missing blocks or painful texture patching for new updates. Thank you Mojang, really. Ditto for new items. But:
The Dropper. Good idea but I think the dropper should "drop" the items not shoot them around. 1/2 blocks away would be awesome. Also, why no vertical drop.
The Hopper. Loving it but it should have a right-click switched op mode: 1) container 2) pass-thru. For pass-thru full strength load signal should be emitted continuously so long as items pass thru it. Would be nice if load signal could be transmitted thru 1 block in any direction not just horizontal. It should promote stacking first and foremost for items sent to container (or sucked into itself for that matter). So long as stack in any existing slot is not full items should go there first not the next available empty slot. This is probably asking too much but item filters for hoppers would be wonderful.
The Comparator. Pretty cool gizmo but buggy as all hell. They often stop responding to input changes after chunk loading. Or maybe it's the source container that fails to (re)supply/cut load signal. Not sure. Any redstone block update in their vicinity fixes it right up but that's just annoying as hell and breaks many contraptions. Also, when the comparator output is sent to existing, signaled wire, it sets its strength to the value output from comparator even if the existing signal is stronger.
Speaking of load signal, good that detector rails now do that too. Would be nicer if powered rails did that as well. Could make for a nice, simple, controlled departure handling based on cart content or lack thereof.
Minecarts are glitchy more than ever, I often see them go into stop-blocks or powerslide the rail like a boss. Doesn't seem to break them but looks even worse that mobs constantly and still glitching thru any non-solid block. Ugh. Also, I really wish combo-carts stopped breaking into their separate components already. So annoying and can't really see any benefit of that at all.
Also, even as awesome as the redstone update was, we really, really need vertical wiring capability.
Other things I'm still hoping for: slabs/stairs for every equivalent rock; fences, doors, pressure plates and what not made in the texture of the source item. Rail junction that can switch between side and straight, I find the current side-to-side switch as it is mostly really annoying and pain to work with. Huge caves are too numerous, the thrill of discovering one is long gone.

Other than that, keep up the good work.
