Didn't read the 16 pages of thread, but if nobody said it:
Doing multiple pre-releases was brilliant.
It gives those who wanted 1.8 early what they wanted, and while also delivering a stable, reliable, mostly bug-free full release when it finally comes out.
It's awesome that it's coming along, but it still won't load any worlds for me. Gonna try updating Java to see if that does the trick, but my hopes aren't high.
Anyone else find that after downloading this one, the day and night cycle keys don't work anymore? The first pre release version I could do it just fine. With this version it won't work. :\

those were only meant to work in creative mode
